Magic green chocolate? Matcha chocolate? Green slime? What is on my chocolate bar?!? πŸ’šπŸ«πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚
I have been getting quite β€œexperimental” with my chocolate bars lately...so much so that I have taken my chocolate-ing to the next level and bought a chocolate refiner so I can grind my own cacao beans into chocolate. I guess you can say I am #chocolateobsessed πŸ˜‚

Leftovers never looked (or tasted) so good !
For a late lunch today I had some beans and rice sitting in the refridgerator from a few days ago. I needed to use them, but I also needed to add some pizazz to them. So I thought long and hard and then BOOM...mole spice popped into my head!So I set out to make a powdered mole spice mix.
In the mix, I put freshly ground ancho chili pepper, paprika, cumin, cacao powder and some Mexican oregano. Ohhhh yeah!! It’s so addicting! I want to put it in everything.... I am actually serious, I am planning on making a savory granola with it hehe .
Here is a list of all the yumminess in my bowl...
-White rice
-Kale + black beans cooked in my homemade ghee and bone broth, spiced up with the mole spice mix I made 🀀🀀
-And of course no bowl would be complete without a drizzle of Valentina hot sauce. If you know, you know... ITS SO GOOD!

OMGHEE! I made GHEE!! πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›
I have wanted to make my own ghee for a long time, but it always seemed so intimidating. Boiling butter?!? Yikes sounds like a lot could go wrong...well at least that is what I thought until today when I made it.
It’s SOOO easy!! I was shocked and felt a little dumb for not trying sooner πŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Haha! But now I am hooked! I want to make ghee all the time, which means I will basically be ghee! Oh gheez!
Also, bonus to making your own, IT’S SO MUCH CHEAPER! I made a whole jar for $5 which would cost around $15 in the stores. It’s a win win situation, and your whole apartment will smell like buttery wonder while you are making it, so really, it’s a win win WIN situation πŸ˜‚πŸ€“
Now my next experiment is dehydrating the leftover salty, buttery milk proteins that you strain out of the ghee.... Will it turn into butter salt?!? I hope so πŸ˜‹

GOAT MILK milk chocolate 🐐πŸ₯›πŸ«
Yes, you read that correctly....I just made goat milk chocolate and it is pretty delish!! I am normally a dark chocolate kind of girl, but when I was in California I bought a tub of @meyenberggoatmilk goat milk powder and thought why not ?! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
I was happily surprised that the chocolate didn’t taste like an utter on the farm because let’s face it....goat milk can be β€œpungent” sometimes πŸ˜‚πŸπŸ₯›πŸ˜‚
I topped these milky cuties off with some crispy brown rice puff things, cranberry powder and licorice powder. YUM! πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹
I am still testing this recipe, but will eventually post it on my website.

I went vegetable picking yesterday and found a thing of beauty... A GIANT BROCCOLI!
It was so cute and wonderful and big and green and lovely and great that I just had to have a photo shoot with it to really express my fondness towards it. So here is some giant broccoli photo spam!
.... And yes I am wearing a tie dye shirt...and yes I made it (plus many more) myself when I was in California.

I think this is my favorite β€œkitchen trick”. I’m sure you have all encountered the floppy celery, or bendy radish, or wilted kale, but did you know if you let them sit in ice water for 10-20 mins they will crisp up again? And be almost crunchier than before?! Yeah, I know, MAGIC!
Here is a beautiful purple radish πŸ’œ that I bought at the Oakland farmers market this weekend and kept forgetting that I had bought it. πŸ™„ Typical Heather! So I sliced it up and let it chill (literally) in some ice water. VIOLA! Crispy, crunchy, fresh radish slices!!! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

I’m obsessed with maple sugar lately, so I thought I should give it a try in my chocolate recipe and WOW! The results where drool inducing, finger licking, dream worthy good! Haha! (I get a little carried away when I talk about chocolate πŸ˜‚)
Bonus, it’s tempered so it doesn’t melt in your fingers.... well unless you eat it outside in California heat! It’s blazing outside πŸ˜³πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚

I had all these apricots in the refrigerator but didn’t know what to do with them. I knew I wanted to make something savory and thought the flavors in Pico de Gallo would work perfectly with the fruit. I would say the result was pretty successful and satisfying πŸ˜‹
And what’s the best way to eat a salsa?! Tortilla chips of course! These are made from scratch and packed with a whole bag of spinach. πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š (ps I have a β€œsecret” tortilla chip addiction πŸ™ƒ)

Berry smoothie with a coconut butter crackle top 🀀🀀🀀
You know those ice cream sauces that turn into a hard, crunchy shell? Well, that’s what happens when you put coconut butter on smoothies!!! It’s like morning ice cream πŸ˜‚
I’m my smoothie I put...
-handful of frozen steamed cauliflower -handful frozen blueberries
-handful frozen pomegranate seeds
-handful fresh spinach -and Onaka FilmjΓΆlk as the liquid
Topped with homemade roasted coconut butter and dried Swedish strawberry slices πŸ˜‹
You are probably like β€œwtf is Onaka FilmjΓΆlk?” It’s basically a drinkable β€œyogurt” (even though Swedes don’t consider FilmjΓΆlk to be yogurt πŸ™„πŸ˜‚) and this specific FilmjΓΆlk has a Japanese fil culture in it πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I am just as confused as you, but it works great in smoothies πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

Topped it off with an almond butter dressing made with almond butter and ginger, garlic, soy and a little fish sauce. It’s my favorite easy dressing πŸ˜‹
