So yoga is interesting πŸ€— Some people get excited about #headstands and hand stands. For some people it completely freaks them out😲. I personally love a good headstand, it clears the cobwebs away. They call head stand the king of postures.

I like to challenge my students to go that little bit further. Normally I am very adamant about going up into the headstand using your own strength and under your own steam. However for the last couple of classes I wanted students to feel what it is to be properly upside down so I paired them off to then help each other up into headstand.

When you get that feeling of claustrophobia around the neck, the key is to really lift up through the shoulders and push into the elbows to create space and minimal pressure on the head.πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ If we were taught to walk on our hands then putting our weight onto our feet would be a little scary🀀.

So this is a shout out to all those who have conquered the feel. Felt the fear but did it anyway. You end up having a sense of achievement from trying something new. I don’t think I have seen bigger smiles on student faces than after trying something that seemed impossible. Plus the added bonus of working with someone and sharing the excitement and laughs.

I normally like to have lemon, ginger, honey, turmeric and cayenne pepper first thing on the morning with warm water. I normally just put a slice of lemon but my very ingenious cousin @becomeincognito recently showed me a way cooler method. By blending all the ingredients in a blender.
The cayenne raise the metabolism, lemon and ginger are great for a sluggish digestion. .

There is actually a lot of #nutrition in lemon skin. I kept the concoction on the fringe in a glass mason jar.

Then I was visiting a friend who had a totally brilliantly obvious way to store the mixture. Freeze it in an ice cube tray then pop in a bag on the freezer. Last far longer and its already measured out for you.

I normally put about 4 whole inwaxed #lemons into the blended, do chop up a buit and remove any obvious seeds. Blend with a chunk of ginger and fresh #turmeric but powder works fine too. Please note if your processor is plastic turmeric can stain. Then add cayenne pepper. To be honest it all depends on your taste buds so play around. But make sure its a nice smooth-ish paste.

Transfer to ice cube tray or trays. Freeze then pop in a freezer container. And thats it. Super easy and all you need to do is add hot water and whatever sweetener you like or not. I like #honey or agave syruo πŸ€—

I always say when walking around London look up. There is amazing architecture to be seen but today, its a case of look up at that beautiful blue sky. You cant help but feel uplifted. As a summer baby I absolutely love the sunshine, it inspires blue sky thinking for sure. ***********************************

The juicey #twist in question is great for unravelling knots in the body. And apparently sorting out #jaw #tension πŸ€—A nice one to set the timer for 5 minutes each side. Take a little break in between of a minute to allow things to marinate. Be sure to rest after both sides, it might get intense😁It kind of looks like rag dolls lying around.
🌟Sit with knees bent feet flat and a little wider than the hips. Let the knees roll over to the right without moving your feet.
🌟 Then walk the hands around the right until your chest is facing the floor and you are facing behind you to the back of your mat. 🌟Then slowly lower down right ear to mat. For a deper neck stretch, the left ear can be placed on the floor as in the image.

Back injury and jaw ache (mouth guard required to help her sleep which she didn't need last night) πŸ€—do not make a fun combination. So happy to see a student floating after class. There was a deep yin twist to start the class which really wrings out the whole body. It can sometimes be intense but then again it will differ for people as they will require different yoga practices with in themselves.

If you are open to healing and trusting that your body is capable of doing the work to make it happen then that faith is golden.

Some serious focus required for #birdofparadise and it does sort of look like the flower. Its a #balance a #hipopener and some #focus is needed to get into it. I loved the facial expressions in these photos πŸ€—πŸ•ΆοΈπŸŒΉπŸ“Έ
If its a struggle to get the leg straight, try folding forward extend it then lift up the torso.

I always thought Bird of paradise was an actual bird when i practiced this pose. But its actually a flower and an absolute stunner at that.😍
So I Challenge you to post a picture of your best #birdofparadise and tag @zimbayoga in the caption. Things to remember: ensure you are properly warmed up. If you struggle to straighten the leg, fold forward a little then extend the leg. Then you can left the chest and stand tall once again.
