Tomorrow is our last day of Maty Ezraty’s teacher training. A bit sad, but excited to integrate Maty’s wisdom and let it percolate into my teaching. I'm going to be honest - there are some days where the last thing I feel like doing is rolling out my mat. Especially when the weather gets cold, and all I want to do is stay bundled up and drink all the hot things.
So on days like that, here's what I do,
I raise the heat,
I make some tea,
I start to move my body, just slowly and gently at first.
Before I know it, my muscles and joints are all warmed up and I don't want to stop moving. I'm feeling good and happy to be on my mat.
Motivation is a funny thing... it doesn't always come when you want it to. But I've learned that sometime with a little nudge, it usually shows up, and may even stay around longer than you'd expect. ❀️
ps. this video was sped up slightly, I like to move slower than this in real life 😊

To be honest I wasn't going to post this exact photo, I had taken another one in the very same spot, but I'm doing a headstand on this ledge above the Seine, and not wearing my coat. πŸ™ˆ
Maybe it's a better photo that would have gotten more attention, but truthfully this silly one kind of sums me up more accurately - the real me when I'm not upside down... just a basic cheeseball who can't quite nail the right hand placement while standing upright for a kitschy pic... πŸ™ŠπŸ—Ό 😹

Practice not performance. No matter how beautiful a pose may seem in a photo it’s daily practice that makes it possible. I may be a yoga teacher, but more than anything I am student, a practitioner. I get on my mat every day, I give myself wholeheartedly to this practice.
There are those who say that yoga can be anything and that it has no root. Yoga is a tradition and it has roots deep within the human spirit. Only by laying yourself humbly at the altar of the practice will discover its magic and unlock healing and transformation. No one can ever take that away from you. It all has to mean something. Some day I believe this practice will really change the world. One day when our eyes open, one day when we are finally strong enough, one day when we reach a critical mass, one day when we decide to stand our ground, it will all change. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
