My husband and I took a walk in our neighborhood and saw a mama moose and her babies. #Idahome is always full of fun surprises😍. I have enjoyed taking you around our new little home for this dancer challenge💃 My husband and I recently downsized our home and we are absolutely in love with what we have created, you know the saying less is more? It’s the truth, simple living is truly where it’s at❤️

Day 6 dancer against the wall, not so pretty and a tiny bit awkward but so important for correct alignment 🙏🏻
SQUARING YOUR HIPS IS IMPORTANT FOR ASYMMETRIC BACKBENDS!!

The legs are doing different things in dancer pose which puts the sacrum at risk of being pulled in opposite directions. If you are a woman reading this, you are particularly at risk. A woman's sacrum is made to move during childbirth, so the ligaments are a little more flexible. When the sacrum gets "stuck" the wrong way, we experience a jammed feeling and/or sciatica pain. For some people this is not as much of an issue, but for someone like myself who is "loosey goosey" in their joints, I have to be particularly mindful in backbends that are asymmetrical. If I am not vigilant about keeping my pelvis square, I pay the price the next day or three, until I manage to pop my sacrum back into place. .

Stand on your mat and face the wall. Your standing leg should be under your hip. Grab a strap and make a small loop. Place the loop around the ball of your foot. Bend your knee and hug it towards the midline of your body. You will notice that your knee will want to splay off to the side (external rotation) don't allow it to do this! Hug the midline and keep your hips and knees parallel and squaring off to the wall in front of you. Keep your belly lifted!

So when I first agreed to do this challenge, I was like “YES!!! Dancer!!! I love Dancer!!!”. Then I read the list of poses and I was like oh hell no, I can’t do these🙈
But I decided if we call these things challenges, then I as a host should be challenged too. So here I am, wishing I was in a handstand 🤣 bending myself into all sorts of uncomfortable shapes with the bendiest hosts🙆🏼‍♀️....
I deeply modified day 4 which is #fallendancer (AKA scary shit) from what my cohosts are doing and put another easier modification in my IG stories if this mermaid style is too difficult to do for you 😉
