5 years ago I was that #yogi that thought I could just kick up into #pincha in the middle of a yoga class with a bunch of strangers that were all inverted, because I could do it against the wall😏
But all my dreams came crashing down when I fell, I fell hard... like landing on my head and awkwardly rolling across my shoulders. I was so embarrassed, I never went back to that class again! But that was #motivation for me to research what poses would help me build the strength to hold #pinchamayurasana and these poses are what I did, everyday for 2 months and then I was able to pincha like a boss:

1. Puppy Pose- Yin style puppy pose for one minute.
2. Plank Pose- Hold 1 minute.
3. Dolphin Pose- Start with 10 sec holds, increasing 10 seconds everyday till you reach 1 min holds. Continue 1 min holds daily.
4. Reverse Plank- Hold 30 seconds.
5. Dolphin Push Ups- With block in between elbows, raise up to downward facing dog from dolphin. Do this 10 Xs.

Core, shoulder flexibility and strength will develop repeating these drills daily!

How To Do The Uttanasana 🔶Exhale and gently soften your knees and bend forward, folding from your hips. You need to counterbalance the weight of your body. To do this, you must move your hips and tailbone slightly back as the rest of your body moves forward.
🔶Remember to keep your knees soft as you do all of this. This will allow your buttocks to point up and your hips to move forward into the upper thighs.
🔶Let your hands rest on the ground, next to your feet. Your feet must be parallel to each other, and your second and middle toes must point forward. Let your chest float over your feet. Widen the space between your chest bone and pubis. Feel the fold and the stretch from your hip bone. If you feel it from the rounding of your lower back, you are doing something wrong.
🔶You must feel a stretch in your hamstrings as well, and if you are not yet feeling it, extend your knees a little more.
🔶Turn your thighs inward, and root yourself into your heels. This will allow better alignment.
🔶Your head must be left to dangle, such that the crown reaches the floor. Look through your legs, and hold the pose.
🔶When you wish to release the pose, contract the core and the abdomen muscles. Inhale and place your hand on the hips. Rise slowly, ensuring there is an elongation in your back. Let there be a distance between your pubis and your chest bone. Slowly stand up.

Unless you were born with a natural external rotation in your hips #LotusPose is probably a struggle. Here are some great poses to help you achieve this #YogaPose
I like long yin style holds when I’m practicing a pose I want to achieve.
The lotus pose requires a lot of patience and consistency before one can fully bloom in the pose. Like a lotus flower which needs its time to grow and develops its beauty.
Try out these 5 poses to prepare the hips to open. Don’t rush, don’t push, take your time!
If you practice these 5 poses every day then I promise you’ll start to see and feel the changes within just 30 days!
🦎Lizard pose- hold both sides each for 30 seconds.
🐦Double pigeon pose- hold both sides each for 30 seconds.
🔶Bound Angle- gently push down each knee with hands, hold for 1 minute.
🐸Frog Pose- hold for 2-3 minutes or as long as you can handle. Put something soft under each knee if they hurt. 👶🏼Rock the baby pose- keep feet flexed to protect the knees and hold each side for 30 seconds.

Virabhadra's Pose is also known as the Warrior Pose (there are three variation of Warrior, of which this is customarily numbered I). It may seem strange to name a yoga pose after a warrior; after all, aren't yogis known for their non-violent ways?
What's really being commemorated in this pose's name, and held up as an ideal for all practitioners, is the "spiritual warrior," who bravely does battle with the universal enemy, self-ignorance (avidya), the ultimate source of all our suffering.
