Who remembers the good old days of month long challenges that helped you commit to practicing yoga every damn day?! Well it’s time to get old school with #AlphabetAsanas 🎉

Join us throughout May as we work through the alphabet using yoga poses to literally spell it out. Each day, a host will show an option for the letter of the day, you can choose to copy it or get creative and show us something you came up with!

A little bit of imagination may be required on some of the days, but the aim is to have fun with the shapes our bodies can make. The final day is designed for you to put together a collage to create a word using the letters you’ve created! We would love for you to join us!

Some helpful tips for switching legs while in a stag handy:
Think of squeezing inner thighs, they may not be touching but the feeling of engaging those inner thighs will help your legs stay in control.
Keep your feet engaged, toes pointed or flexed will make that happen. I like to think of pulling my knee into chest and back foot down towards the ground.... The engagement of pulling both directions is the key to finding perfect balance in a stag shaped handstand!
If your bendy try to think of keeping that core engaged and knitting ribs together.
Pushing through shoulders by thinking of pushing into the earth.
Rotate shoulders and biceps outward.
Pushing into your palms will help with keeping those arms straight and shoulders rotated.
If balance is challenging here, use your finger tips or spidy fingers to keep you from falling backwards (trust me they help a lot)
Don't forget to breathe!

🙌🏻Day 8 is 🧜‍♀️ MERMAID HANDSTAND with COW FACE POSE (why is this called cow face pose🤷🏼‍♀️, anybody know?) #gomukhasana to stretch out those hips first! Check out my fancy lil dance move to switch the other side in cow face pose🤣it’s fun, try it!

Some helpful tips for staying strong and straight in mermaid pose handstand:
I have a hard time figuring out if my legs are squared so I tend to lean from side to side till I get but this might happen to you too because your body is completely out of alignment when making this shape. I threw in a lil fishtail pose at the end for fun!
From straight handstand externally rotate your legs, try to touch toes together... I like to think of making a heart shape with my toes if that makes sense?

🙌🏻Day 6 is HOLLOWBACK HANDSTAND with PUPPY POSE to stretch out those shoulders first! I also love using my #infinitystrap and brik blocks for a prep to puppy pose! Using your head as leverage helps deepen then shoulder stretch!

Tips for a safe and strong hollowback:
If #hollowback is new to you start with your hands close to the wall to be on the safe side. Move them farther away as you become more comfortable in this shape, when I first started practicing hollowback occasionally I would get “stuck” and not be able to come out of my hollowback, if this happens think of piking your body out of it. Make sure to warm up and stretch our shoulders before attempting as well!

🙌🏻Day 5 is STRADDLE HANDSTAND with wide leg forward fold for a stretch (seated/standing)
I have been loving the sock slides lately and was so excited to see how many tried it, what did you all think?? It really fires up the muscles and helps them to release faster. I’ve been working on a deeper center split lately so giving myself leverage at the wall feels so good in a straddle handstand!

Tips for a strong straddle Handstand:
Feet and legs engaged, toes pointed or flexed will make that happen. Relax inner thighs allowing the legs to drop to each side.
When lowering your legs into a straddle, slowly start to drop hips side to side and allow each leg to follow the hips that are dropping. If your staying at the wall like I am here, get close enough to the wall that your shoulders are over wrist and your back is not sagging! It's important to keep your HIPS OVER SHOULDERS. Rotate shoulders, biceps outward, arms straight, push into palms and think of pushing into the earth hard.
Breathe!
