I need to tell you about my experience in the violin museum in #cremona. When I was a child I dreamed of seeing and to play a Stradivarius or a Guarneri. Probably every little child passionate about violin has the same dream, but for a girl living in Cuba, growing up in middle of the toughest economical crisis ( we called this period of our history “Option Zero”) this was an unattainable dream. Standing in this museum, playing in this breathtaking auditorium I thought about all the times that my father took telephones cables and fabricated himself the strings for my violin so I could keep practicing. I thought about all the nights that my mother ( without electricity, suffocated by the Cuban heat) put a candle so I could learn my music score ...and if by any chance I wasn’t keeping the tempo, she started tapping the beats as a metronome for me. (A Cuban mother always has the right tempo 😂) Standing there in this place my heart was full of gratitude, to my parents, to my teachers, to LIFE... even now that I’m writing this long post I can barely contain my tears... Because nothing has been granted. We dream, we work hard, we believe with all our heart and here we are rising up because dreams are made possible if you try.
