Benjamin Rowley  My wife and I started Yellowood Design Studio in Columbus, Ohio. Inspired by rural living we design and craft products that reflect a simpler time.

Some time we find hidden treasures under the rust of old tools. Finally got a hold of an axe made in my home town Columbus, Ohio. Smith Brothers Hardware Co. Cut Easy double bit! It’s like Christmas in July! Now to get it swinging again!!

It’s the perfect night for a campfire here in #CanalWinchester. It feels strangely like fall - we hope you get to enjoy this break from the heat.

Happy National Paul Bunyan Day! Paul Bunyan was and is one of my favorite folk tales, we are happy to see that the big man gets a day all to himself!

Being a father is a joy that is hard to describe, it’s making that perfect cut with your axe, the best shot with your bow, everyday. Our son made this for me at school. I felt so proud to see what he thought of me. For #fathersday make sure You tell your old man how you feel about him! Happy Father’s Day to you all!

YDS Hatchet No. 216 “The Fire” headed off to a friend up north in Canada.

Today one of my dearest friends fulfilled a dream. He officially opened @highbankdistillery! So we made him and his business partner couple of axes! Axe No. 266 “Kountry Gentleman” & Axe No. 267 “4” Higher and Rising” we are so proud of you @states_of_design thanks for being an inspiration to all of us dreamers!

Shameless wife promotion time. @mrs.yellowoodesign has been hustling hard to get together a dream of hers (and mine). The idea started about a year ago when we realized that our @axecamp needed to be shared on a larger scale and the way to do that would be via a new type of retreat venue. This is why @the.farmstead was born /// our friends, family, customers, and neighbors deserve a space away from the city but not so far away that it becomes a chore. They deserve a place to feel free in nature, learn a new skill and feel peace and inspiration. We hope you’ll support this dream and learn more. Visit @the.farmstead bio for link to our first crowd funding effort.

#tbt just realized I haven’t posted the racing axes or saw work that we had done for the #OSU #timbersports team. Running a little behind on everything lately.

Removing a few hatchets from their handles that have out lived their usefulness. Next steps cleaning and sharpening.

Custom Order YDS Axe No. 265 “Yellow Jacket”. Headed out to it’s new home in Montana!

A nice pile of axes ready to be sharpened and seated on new handles for @theohiostateuniversity #timbersports #forestryforumatosu

Repairing and restoring a mantel for our dear friends @derksworks @mrsderksworks removing decades of paint and grime can often reveal fun surprises.
