I’m Kelcey Abney and Nineteen Thousand Feet is my passion project. The aim is to discover an ethical, sustainable, and joyful path to exponential economic growth for the masses.
While I have a place in my heart for all of humanity, regardless of race, age, nationality, I see the value in being very specific and focused with my efforts. As a black man, I have the most credibility and familiarity with the black community/experience, so I choose to focus there.
By 2035, I’d love to see the wealth gap between Blacks and Whites disappear. To me that means Blacks are proportionately represented in the millionaire and billionaire populations, and our median household net-worth is on par with Whites.
The first step is to build relationships with a handful of people who are doing leading-edge work. They all happen to be in the Bay/Silicon Valley area, so I've decided to move there from DC.
Finding an affordable place to live in that area is difficult, but fortunately, there's a spot saved for me opening up in December. To make the move, I have to raise at least $4,500 (deposit, first month, plane ticket, etc.) I'm off to a good start, but far from that mark.
The Millionaire March is a play on the Million Man March. I dream of a gathering of 2.5 million Black millionaire households, on the National Mall, on September 8, 2035. It will be 40 years after the first Million Man March, and hopefully a celebration instead of a call to action. The march has already begun, 2035 is just a milestone to look forward to.
