When I decided to run for State Representative in September 2017, I had no idea what to expect. I knew I wanted to serve the constituents in the 5th District. Over this last year, I canvassed a lot of neighborhoods in the 5th District and met some wonderful people. I had some amazing volunteers who stood by me and supported me every step of the way. I’ve also met some great politicians, community activists, and organizers during this journey.
After much thought and consideration, I have decided to withdraw from the race. This was not an easy decision to make, but I feel it is the best decision for me at this time. My plan is to continue to work with community organizations behind the scenes to help solve some ongoing issues/concerns within my district and community. I also plan to hold the next State Representative accountable to ensure that our voices are heard.
As far as the bowling fundraiser on Saturday, June 30th, the fundraiser is canceled; however, I still plan to go bowling at Bowlerama at 6:00 pm to celebrate my journey. Please feel free to come out and bowl with me.
What an amazing journey? I have no regrets and very proud of my accomplishments. When the timing is right, I will return.
Thank you 5th District for all your support!
