Sundays are for open houses, especially when they are in St. Helena and include a gorgeous Victorian from the 1880s with a carriage house and lemon trees.

Slowly easing myself back into social media after a month away. I'll be the first to admit, the initial days were challenging, the motor memory was strong but I quickly found myself engaged in more meaningful connections and only missing ways to share instantly with loved ones.
During the past 28 days, I said a tearful and heartfelt goodbye to our beloved family dog of more than 17 years, spent a gorgeous (and delicious) weekend in Napa, finally booked a much-deserved vacation, shot court side at a NCAA game as the only woman photographer, found some incredible furniture finds for my new home, creative directed a hospital photo shoot, and snuck in some 1:1 time with friends and family.
I have yet to re-download all social apps but once I do, notifications will remain off and icons will not live on my home screen.
Here's to small changes with pleasant rewards.

After a lot of consideration and conversation with friends, I've decided to take a month-long vacation from all forms of social media. This means all apps will be removed. All notifications will be silenced. I'll be forced to let go of the distractions, critical comparisons, and political/current state of affairs anxiety that ultimately fills so many minutes of my day. Nevertheless, I'll continue to devour real news but through my own searches rather than click bait algorithms. I'm hoping to be more mindful, more present, and cultivate a more holistic approach to my creative practice. My momma said this may be harder than kicking caffeine, we'll see if she's right.
See you all in March.

California, intergalactic.

As someone who used to work in journalism, I still get excited to pick up newspapers after monumental events and this morning was no different. Over coffee, my partner and I discussed ways we can continue the incredible momentum we felt yesterday during the #womensmarchsf . We decided one small way is to actively support free press and real news sources. Subscribing to credible newspapers and disengaging with fake news is critical as we resist the unjust and inhumane agenda our administration has in mind. In solidarity, we rise.

Love and respect are our most basic human values, and those with the highest potential.

Where the heat meets the cold on a November morning.

Be gentle with yourself.

I thought about the job of the lighthouse keeper yesterday. Someone who isolates oneself in order to ensure others feel less alone. To cast light into the darkness. To say, I am here for you.
