Find them @nature_org With forests all across the globe disappearing at an alarming rate, there's never been a more critical moment to step up and protect them. #rainforest #jungle #temburong #brunei #borneo #arborday2017 #NationalArborDay #nature_org @nature_org @natgeo @natgeocreative @thephotosociety @thesilkroadjourney

Today is National Arbor Day, the annual observance on the last Friday in April to celebrate the importance of trees and to encourage their planting and nurturing to make our world greener and healthier. Hard to imagine a world without trees! #cherryblossoms #japan #arborday #trees @nature_org @natgeocreative @natgeotravel

Tanks on a training mission cross a river near Seoul. Equipped with chemical, biological, and now nuclear weapons, the North has targeted Seoul, South Korea's capital, with hundreds of artillery pieces. South Korean and U.S forces - with superior air and tank power - train constantly to repel an attack. I photographed the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone), the heavily armed border between North and South Korea, on the 50th anniversary of the Korean War. Nothing has improved since the @natgeo story was published in 2003, and now tensions have reached an all time high. The United States Senate is to be briefed on the North Korea crisis at the White House today. #korea #southkorea #northkorea #dmz #Seoul #tank @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @natgeo

@better_moments_photography - Join Mike on a photographic exploration of the Silk Road: A Historical Legacy, in October, 2017. This 14 day photography workshop will explore one of the worlds' most famous trade routes in China. Details can be found in the link on @better_moments_photography. Deal-making here is still done the old-fashioned way, up close and personal: two traders bargain head-to-head over livestock at the Sunday market in Kashgar, China. Only a few spots left. Hope to see you there! #silkroad #photographyworkshop #China #photography #workshop #Kashgar #Kashi #Xinjiang #market #bazaar #MarcoPolo @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @supchinanews @thephotosociety @thesilkroadjourney @natgeo.media

Prescribed burn, Mendham, New Jersey: As a volunteer fireman in a rural Jersey town, we set fires to prevent the buildup of combustible material when weather conditions are right. #prescribedburn #controlledburn #Mendham #NewJersey #NJ #fireprevention @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @thephotosociety

From the National Geographic Taiwan story on Mazu - The goddess of the sea, protector of sailors and fishermen, and most popular God in Taiwan - The 9th and final day of the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage brings the soot covered palanquin of Mazu home to Dajia Jenn Lann (Mazu) Temple in Taichung, where it all began. Fireworks are the cause of the black, sooty mess. The yellow shirted fireworks crew clear the final path to the temple. This is one of the world's biggest religious celebrations, the pilgrimage lasts for 9 days as Mazu is transported around southern Taiwan to more than 100 temples. #Taichung #Taiwan #temple #Mazu @natgeo.media @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @thephotosociety

Horses and yak graze near the shore of Namtso Lake, the largest in the Tibetan Autonomous Region and highest in the world at 15,479 ft. This natural, salt lake is sacred to the Tibetans and is accessible by road from Lhasa. I get to travel to some pretty amazing places but without organizations like @nature_org working hard to protect them, that just wouldn’t be possible. This upcoming Earth Day, let’s help @nature_org stand up for nature—and inspire others—by entering the Nature Conservancy’s “What’s Your Nature?” Photo Contest. #lake #Namtso #lakenam #lakeNamtso #Tibet #Lhasa #China #photocontest #earthday @natgeo @natgeocreative @natgeotravel @supchinanews @thephotosociety @thesilkroadjourney @natgeo.media
