Fresh coats of paint at Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine Shipyards - When I think of Singapore, I think of the sea and it’s maritime history going back centuries. I also arrived in Singapore by sail boat almost 40 years ago and started my career as a photographer here. This is why I am truly excited to be judging a new National Geographic photo competition with @Gov.sg, #WhatMakesSG with some awesome prizes including a Nat Geo Photography Expedition to Yellowstone Park. I look forward to seeing your photography on what makes Singapore special to you. The contest closes on May 22nd so get shooting #WhatMakesSG More details here:www.natgeotv.com/Asia/whatmakessg

Singapore’s amazing Botanic Garden is an important resource for science, research and plant conservation since 1859 and is now Singapore’s first World Heritage site. It’s one of my favorite places to photograph for knock your socks off green. Farm of the future? Sustenir Agriculture believes so. Using state of the art hydroponic vertical farming techniques they are able to grow non tropical plants like kale, arugula, cherry tomatoes and strawberries in a temperature controlled environment, in a very limited space, without insects, pesticides and pollutants. The plants photosynthesis needs are provided by LED lighting with color light waves that make plants happy. #HappyEarthday #sustainable #susteniragriculture #hydroponics #kale #thisissingapore #temasekseen @natgeo @thephotosociety @natgeo.media

On this year’s #EarthDay, April 22nd, we are striving to #EndPlasticPollution throughout the world. One of the most susceptible places to plastic pollution are oceans, lets help to keep our seas clean. Pont Naturel, Natural Bridge in French, is a volcanic rock formation that looks like a man-made bridge, yet it was formed by natural processes. It is a part of the cliff at Gris-Gris overlooking the pristine Indian Ocean on the southern most point of Mauritius.

Living art - Terminal 4, Changi Airport: What country builds walls of living plants and paints their roads red? Only in #Singapore - this green wall facade is draped with 16,000 plants. High School teams from all around New Zealand compete at the Polyfest in Auckland, here performing the haka, a type of ancient Māori war dance traditionally used on the battlefield, as well as when groups came together in peace. Haka are a fierce display of a tribe's pride, strength and unity. Actions include violent foot-stamping, tongue protrusions and rhythmic body slapping to accompany a loud chant. #Polyfest18 #haka #maori @nature_org

Netting eels in Whakaki Lagoon, a traditional form of customary fishing. Archie and Willie from the Ngai Te Ipu tribe, call themselves the Kirituna people, meaning the eel skin people. Their ancestors have been catching eel here for centuries, especially during this period, the migration season, when these short finned eels will come out of the lagoon and slither 50m over the sand dunes to the sea. On assignment for The Nature Conservancy photographing the Maori fishing industry. TNC is here helping to maintain sustainable fisheries in New Zealand. #whakaki #eel #maori #fishingnewzealand @tnc_hk @nature_org
