Gilded by spring outlaws, a 30 acre field surrenders to dandelions in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. #springtime #dandelions #Vermont #northeastkingdom

Green paradise: sun sets on Cuiping Mountain. #yangshuo #cuiping #guilin @natgeochina @natgeo.media

Spring green on Li River, another favorite subject of the artist Wu Guanzhong, father of modern Chinese painting. This prolific painter seems to have painted every iconic beauty spot in China from Guilin to the Great Wall. My good fortune to be following in his footsteps. #wuguanzhong #liriver #yangshuo #guilin @natgeo.media @natgeochina

Drama in Guilin - of all the best known scenic spots in China, perhaps the most famous is Guilin. And in all my years shooting in China (since 1982), I had never been until this week. This limestone karst mountain landscape is spectacular in any light. #guilin #xianggong #liriver #yangshuo

It doesn't get any better than El Nido in Palawan for pristine, aquamarine water. The El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area is the largest marine sanctuary in the entire Philippines, protecting everything from marine mammals, birds, turtles, fish and coral that lie within its boundaries.

Another angle on Luzhi Watertown. This particular canal was a favorite subject of the artist Wu Guanzhong . Here’s my photograph from yesterday along with one of his water colors from the early 1980s. Following his travels around China on assignment for @Natgeomedia

Luzhi is one of the best preserved ancient water towns in China. Famous for its waterways and bridges, with some dating back to the Song Dynasty. Immortalized by artists throughout its long history, the town has been written about by the Ming poet Gao Qi, and painted by contemporary artist Wu Guangzhong, regarded as the founder of modern Chinese art. In a Chinese Garden: Chinese crab apple in bloom, a sure sign of spring. Master of Nets Garden in Suzhou, a World Heritage site, one of the most famous in China. Shooting Suzhou next 3 days. Stay tuned. #spring #chinesegarden #masterofnetsgarden #worldheritagesite

Boats in the moat: Cherry blossoms along the moat of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo are a sure sign of spring. Japan's samurai class loved the ephemeral nature of the blossom as well as its beauty, comparing the ideal path of samurai to a short but beautifully lived life. #imperialpalace #springtime #cherryblossom #tokyo

Locals enjoy early mornings on Nha Trang Beach, Vietnam, but leave behind refuse & plastic that can be seen glistening in the sun. What is left on the beach will eventually end up in the sea. So, please pick up after yourself before you leave the beach, and help to keep our oceans clean. It’s been a year since I was in Singapore shooting for Ecosperity. This April, National Geographic together with Temasek will be running a Photo Competition - Shoot for Sustainability from now till 30 April 2019. Pick up your camera and show us what #OurCleanEarth means to you. Window washers here in Beijing - It’s a big job to clean the windows of the Poly Art Museum - takes mountaineering skills as they dangle, 10 stories above, tethered to ropes controlled by a single handler on the ground. #windowwasher #windowcleaning #polyartmuseum

One last look at winter, and a look ahead to the next, as I will be having a winter photo workshop in Hokkaido, Japan next year. One of the places we will visit is Asahi-dake, the highest peak and an active volcano on Hokkaido Island, in Daisetsuzan National Park. Don’t worry, there is no historical record of eruptions of Asahi-dake. The mountain is popular with hikers and skiers. For all information about the workshop, please visit @jockmontypix who is organizing the workshop. #hokkaido #japan #asahidake #Daisetsuzan #photoworkshop
