It is with great regret for all the events leading up to now, and with great joy for the opportunities of the future to let you all know that I've decided to shut down WTF SF.
In 1993 Michael Jordan walked away from the game of basketball. And while by no means am I Michael Jordan by any stretch of the imagination, or trying to allude to some sort of greatness. The first thing that resonates in my mind as I write this letter is what he said during that speech. Referencing his quote during his first retirement press conference, he said "..when I lose the sense of motivation, and the sense to prove something as a basketball player.. it's time for me to move away from the game of basketball...I just feel that I don't have anything left for myself to prove." A few years ago we set out to challenge ourselves independently, build something meaningful, and hopefully make a few new friends while making people happy with our food. With those things, we have succeeded far beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
It will always be our goal to strive to give value to our customers, and to deliver something beyond anything that you’ve expected. The next time we do business again, it will be in a way that we have always imagined, rather than what we have to settle for. It is a dream of ours to one day open our doors, welcome you all warmly, and sit you comfortably at a cozy table. Even play some music that we hope you’ll like while you toss a few beers back and eat some food we cooked up. That is something that we strongly envision and will work diligently for until it happens.
Thank you for your support! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your weddings, your birthdays, your baby showers, your bridal showers, office lunches, and special gatherings. Thank you for making your Sundays a weekly routine with us. And lastly, thank you for your cheerful encouragement, constructive criticism, and being curious enough to know if we’re open any other day of the week. It definitely opened our eyes to see what kind of potential we have with our work together as a family team.
All the love we can possibly give,
Jonathan and WTFSF Family
