Today is May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (@may17org). In honor of today, check out this #5WomenArtists post from @leslielohmanmuseum during #WomensHistoryMonth.⠀⠀
#GreerLankton was a prominent artist, known for creating hauntingly lifelike dolls. She was extremely influential and active in New York City's East Village art scene during the 1980s. Pictured here are excerpts from her sculptured book (1981) from the @leslielohmanmuseum collection, which depict the difficult gender transition Lankton endured at age 21.

On the fourth day of #MuseumWeek, #MuseumWeek gave to me... #RainbowMW! 🌈⠀⠀
#HarmonyHammond is an influential artist, writer, and pioneer of the Feminist Art Movement. She is known for her fabric-wrapped sculptures that challenge conventional ideas about women’s handiwork and her work promoting feminism in the arts.

Day 3 of #MuseumWeek is #PlayMW! 🎊⠀We LOVE when people explore and engage with artworks in playful ways, like @veganroyalty did in this winning photo from the #TheContourOfFeeling InstaMeet!⁣ Come play in our galleries, and make sure to tag us if you share photos of all the fun.⠀⠀

It's #MuseumWeek and today's theme is #WomenInCulture! 🎉 Obviously, #NMWA has many options for what and who to feature today, but why not highlight eight for the price of one?⠀⠀
"Soho Women Artists" (1978) by #MayStevens is a group portrait featuring a number of Stevens's friends—well-known feminist artists and thinkers as well as several SoHo residents. Included in this friezelike composition are #MayStevens herself, #HarmonyHammond, #JoyceKozloff, #MartyPottenger, #LouiseBourgeois, #MiriamSchapiro, #LucyLippard, and #SarahCharlesworth.⠀⠀

#Happy #MothersDay from #MaryCassatt’s “Mother's Kiss,” (detail) 1890-1891! 💗⠀⠀
A prolific and innovative printmaker, Cassatt created "Mother’s Kiss" as one of a series of 10 color prints. Cassatt had challenged herself to imitate the aesthetic of Japanese prints that she had recently seen in Paris. The resulting series reflects the techniques and subjects Cassatt admired.
