Time for the question! Recently we can’t help but be inspired by the bravery and powerfulness of activists through the ages. From the March For Our Lives participants demanding a safer school environment to the longstanding legacy of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee emerging in the wake of the sit-ins, today we want to know what you would say if you had the stage as Martin Luther King Jr.’s granddaughter, Yolanda Renee King did on March 24th? #DontSleep #tricentennial #NOLA300 (Images: Tom Joyner Morning Show, Black Enterprise)

Dr. King wasn’t sleeping on the injustices in the world. In his 39 years he fought tirelessly for a more equitable society for all. Today as we mark 50 years since his untimely death we honor and thank him for his sacrifices and commitment to peace and non-violence. Let us know, how do you plan to continue the dream? The photos above show students from Miami, Boston, New York, and Orlando who stood in solidarity against the gun violence that plagues their communities. Sadly, we learn time and time again that the schoolhouse is no shield against this terror. But our children will not sit idly by, rather they are committed to changing the things they cannot accept. “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men” - Frederick Douglass

Gun violence kills, but their spirit is not dead.
