Wish Upon a Teen is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to operate a Liquor Tent at the annual Arts, Beats, and Eats Festival in downtown Royal Oak September 1st thru the 4th. All shifts require 2 adults (must be 21 and over) and are 3-hours in length.
All proceeds for this event benefit the Design My Room program, an exclusive Wish Upon a Teen program for teenagers facing extended hospitalizations due to life-threatening illness or serious injury. Designers are given access to the teen’s hospital room and allowed to redecorate it to feel more comforting and relaxing – more like “home.” This includes bringing in new bedding, rugs, posters, movie or sports memorabilia, all according to the teen’ interests and tastes. Once the teen is ready to return home, they can take all of their decorative items with them to use however they desire.
Last year, with your help, Wish Upon a Teen was able to decorate over 25 hospital rooms in Michigan including Beaumont Children’s Hospital, Mott Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, St. John Children’s Center, and Sparrow Children’s Center! This simple makeover has a remarkably positive impact on a teenager’s sense of well-being. You can help make a difference, one teen a time!
As a thank you for your service hours, you will receive a weekend pass for the event, a parking pass for the day you volunteer, and a t-shirt!
Please utilize the sign up genius link, and don’t forget to tell us your shirt size.
