Wow were @toddthimios and I wrong on this morning... Clouds covered the peaks on another foggy Patagonian morning, so naturally heading out in the howling wind for what we thought was going to be a lacklustre sunrise was not super appealing. We mulled around a little, drank some tea, finished throwing our bags in the car, enjoyed the last of the warmth and comfort of our cabin, and finally drove out to the spot we had hoped to shoot for sunrise - about 20 minutes later than the ideal time we agreed upon the night before. @toddthimios was driving and as we started to get a good view of the mountains I saw these insane storm clouds were rolling up from behind them and about to engulf the entire view. Panic set in, our last morning to shoot with the craziest light I’d ever seen and we missed it because we were a little tired and wanted a cup of tea 😖, “F&$*%#}ING DRIVE TODDO, HURRRRYYYYY!!!”
We got to the spot and I tuck and rolled out of the car before Toddo could even slow down let alone park it. I managed to snap a couple of frames with the mountains only partially covered, but then the clouds just kept on rolling towards us, and the light kept getting better and better.
Both in awe we stood back as this crazy rainbow light up in front of these intense sunrise lit storm clouds... Almost missing out on this epic display of mother nature’s goodness for a cup of tea?! Lesson learnt - it’s always worth the extra push, and it’s so often the difference between good experiences and stupidly epic ones. So next time make sure you skip that snooze button, bounce out of bed and get ready for what the new day brings, because who knows, Mother Nature might have something like this in store for you!
