Added to things I’m currently loving: foggy mornings, restful sleep, gold kiwis, and imperfectly fried eggs. It’s the little things, right?

Up on the blog today: a recap of my trip to the Big Island. 🤙🏻 It’s mostly a slew of photos + a few sentiments about taking a break from social media. Link in profile. ✨ Happy reading.

And just like that, it’s football season.
.
.
(#AD) Aka, that time of year when Pinterest is buzzing with sport-themed party decorations, homemade hors d’oeuvres, and football-shaped desserts.
.
.
It’s also that time of year when my husband has zero shame in his ESPN game — a standard Sunday involves streaming multiple games to every technology screen in our apartment. It’s not quite as idyllic as it sounds ;).
.
.
While I may never understand the rules of football, I do understand that watching sports means snacks are a non-negotiable. Enter: @LebbySnacks.
.
.
These crunchy chickpeas are my new go-to. I love eating them straight out of the bag (Mocha flavor, I’m looking at you), but the Sesame Honey is equally delicious atop savory dishes. These snack bites are packed with protein, fiber, and are wonderfully versatile.
.
.
Today, I whipped up an appetizer plate for us to share, complete with homemade beet hummus topped with the Sesame Honey Lebby Chickpea Snacks. Sweet and savory for the win.
.
.
If you want to elevate your snacking game, I’ve partnered with @lebbysnacks for a G I V E A W A Y! ✨
.
.
One lucky winner will receive four flavors of Lebby Chickpea Snacks. To enter, you must follow @lebbysnacks and comment below by tagging one friend. One entry per person. I will pick a random winner on Wednesday, September 19th. Good luck!

I’ve recently become even more passionate about sustainability, food waste, and preserving the beautiful planet we are privileged to call home.
.
.
Simply becoming more aware of my resource consumption has been eye-opening...and reducing unnecessary waste has morphed into a daily habit.
.
.
While this certainly applies to plastic, it also applies to food waste. A quick Google search will spew some horrific facts about global food waste. However, much of it can be mitigated by taking actionable steps at home.
.
.
For example, if your greens are on their way out, freeze ‘em. Same with your meat. Eggs? Hard boil. Fruit? Make into a jam, freeze for smoothies, or dehydrate in the oven. Herbs? Again, freeze (with water in an ice tray) or dehydrate by hanging them upside down. Stale bread? Croutons. Veggies? Pickle!
.
.
Enter: these garlic and dill pickled red onions. They’re delish. Hop over to my blog for the recipe — link in profile.
.
.
P.S. If you’re new to sustainability, look no further than the beautiful @thewellessentials. She lives and breathes an eco-friendly lifestyle and it’s incredibly inspiring.

Some of you are omnivores. Others are plant-based. Some are gluten intolerant. And others avoid dairy.
.
.
A fraction of you eat to balance your hormones. Some intermittent fast, and others honor daily, fluctuating hunger cues.
.
.
A percentage of you eat all the things. Some of you yo-yo diet. And others are courageously working through a laundry list of fear foods.
.
.
These personas / types go on and on. And maybe you see yourself in a handful of the things I mentioned.
.
.
I shed light on this because I want you to remember that there is no universal, perfect way to fuel your body. As a bio-individual with a dynamic gut microbiome, what works for you isn’t necessarily going to work for anyone else.
.
.
Regardless of how you choose to eat, I just hope it’s a choice rooted in what makes you feel vibrant and alive. Nourishing your body with local, colorful fruits + veggies is just as important as nourishing your body with fresh-out-the-oven cookies and a side of ice cream. Just sayin’.

Two years ago, these shorts would have been too big. My bathing suit top would have been a size smaller. And my thighs wouldn’t be touching.
.
.
Two years ago, I would have exercised before breakfast. And I wouldn’t have tasted the decadent fudge we bought in Hawi, HI. I looked different. Plain and simple. I was me, yes, but a shadow version of who I am today. I was restrictive and regimented and food was hardly a source of spontaneity or variety.
.
.
But I’m not ashamed or embarrassed by this. It’s a part of my story. It’s a part of who I am. Because here’s the thing...none of us are immune to life’s trying times, rough patches, setbacks, and hurdles. None of us.
.
.
I don’t believe it was a coincidence that I treated my body the way I did. The universe was — in an unprecedented way — teaching me some of life’s most valuable lessons. Experiencing body dysmorphia taught me the power of resilience, humility, and having courage. For that matter, overcoming my struggles taught me that change and healing ARE possible.
.
.
Whether you’re in the thick of healing from an illness / distress, or you’re bracing yourself for something in your life that is about to change, lean into the power of the human spirit. It is capable of enduring the many faces of adversity, and it’s far more resilient than we give it credit for.
.
.
All my love, friends.

My mom took this photo of me at the Waimea farmer’s market yesterday, and I couldn’t help but think I look just like...me.
.
.
No makeup. Frizzy hair wrapped in a bun. Casual clothes. Strong legs. Thighs that touch. Cellulite. A soft stomach. Wrinkles around my eyes. A genuine smile. A full heart.
.
.
For many of us, we live in a perpetual state of wanting to look like someone else — anyone else — just so we can look nothing like ourselves. And so we eat and dress and talk and think and move like others do. But what if we re-wrote that narrative? What if we started owning who we are and how we were made, imperfections and all?
.
.
Scary, yes. Impossible, no.
.
.
So tell me — what is one thing that makes you, you? What is something you unapologetically love about yourself? Be it your empathy, your fair skin, your religion, or your sexual preference, you are YOU. And you ain’t got time to be anyone else. 👋🏿👋🏾👋🏽👋🏼👋

Last night’s dinner was 10/10 — thanks to @rooney_bloom’s organic veggies and herbs.
.
.
There’s something so delicious (and gratifying!) about eating straight from the garden. And as you probably know, buying / eating locally shortens the time between harvest and consumption — meaning, you’re getting a higher quality nutrient bang for your buck.
.
.
Deets: spaghetti squash, roasted in the oven for 45 minutes + sautéed onions, garlic, zucchini, kale, and green lentils in butter and olive oil + @traderjoes pesto + cherry tomatoes, feta, @manitobaharvest hemp seeds, dried oregano, and fresh basil.
.
.
Happy Friday! 🌱

Taking a few extra minutes to savor this cozy, foggy morning.
.
.
Plate: Pasture-raised eggs, scrambled in ghee and sea salt. Toast with almond butter, organic figs, and hemp seeds. Mug: Chai latte blended with almond milk, honey, and coconut butter for extra froth.
.
.
TBH, I don’t have an elaborate morning ritual. However, I do try and prioritize a delicious and satisfying breakfast. It goes something like this — first, I ask myself what sounds good. Then, I figure out how hungry I am. From there, I typically pick one (or a couple) of carbs, protein sources, and fats.
.
.
And just because I ate x, y, and z after dinner last night, doesn’t mean I’m starting my day with exercise and / or skipping a certain food group the following morning.
.
.
Remember, your body is resilient. Whether you ate past comfortable fullness last night, you’re in a season of your life where movement / exercise isn’t routine, or you simply haven’t been craving nutrient-dense foods, THAT’S OKAY. You are not any less “well” because of those things. By my humble standards, you aren’t expected to be balanced all of the time (that’d be no fun).
.
.
Give yourself grace, okay? And go eat something delicious today. Much love, friends.

Chai spiced chia pudding makes Sunday go round.✨
.
.
After a client session yesterday, I made homemade chai cashew milk (which came out v thiqqq), so I added the liquid to a cup or so of chia seeds and let the mixture work its magic.
.
.
Breakfast: a few scoops of overnight chia pudding with raw walnuts, full-fat yog, and toasted coconut. Sliced banana and a handful of @gr8nola on the side. Have a wonderful rest of the weekend, friends.

When I started my Instagram account, I thought my feed would only exhibit food posts, recipes, and perfectly plated meals. I told myself I needed to post every day. I wanted to use this space to show you what I was cooking, baking, and eating at work. For that matter, I didn’t think I’d post many photos of myself. Or my family members. Or the places I love. Hell, I didn’t think I’d leave my old job.
.
.
.
I shunned the thought of getting vulnerable. And I never thought I’d talk about body acceptance. Or fear. Or my story. Or PCOS.
.
.
.
But here we are.
.
.
.
I’m evolving, growing, and changing. And this account is a testament to that.
.
.
.
Moving forward, I’ll still be sharing my thoughts on body acceptance. I’ll still be sharing my love for nourishing foods. And I’ll still be sharing my hormone balance journey.
.
.
.
But, I’m equally excited to share more of this: the power of following your dreams, supporting your passions, and realizing that you are capable of manifesting the exact life you want. It’s all a matter of your own frame of mind. ✨
