TOMORROW: @afropolitaninsights is bringing their first annual Self-Care Festival to #Weeksville! Stop by from 1pm-7pm for workshops, fitness classes, massages, and a keynote by Dr. Yaba Blay!

Go! Go! Go! Cheering @renegadepg on as they host their second screening of "Untamed State" TONIGHT at @3ldnyc beginning at 8pm. This beautiful film was shot here on the grounds of Weeksville and we are beyond proud to be a part of this project. Entry is donation based. Head to the Renegade Performance Group page for more details.

Our #WCW LaShae, the designer of the Elizabeth Hunter dress from our 2016 play "The Freedman's Lit! Think and Be, Live and Rise" stopped by to visit us today! See this and other garments from the Weeksville archive in our latest exhibition, "Fashioning The Women of Weeksville".

Starting the week refreshed, full, and still glowing from the @movementblackaugust run that kicked off at the Hunterfly Road Houses! There is a divine spirit connecting the history of Weeksville and the legacy of #BlackAugust and we cannot thank @faithevebee enough for bringing them together on our sacred grounds. Runners to community organizers to neighbors, we implore you all to follow Faith and her movement. Here's to a productive week!

Have you stopped by our quilting exhibition powered by our friends at the Hugh Gilroy Senior Center? Visit us Tuesday through Friday beginning at 10am through September.

TODAY: Dear friend to Weeksville and the woman behind THNK book club, @priscilla.amado, will be hosting an imperative workshop along with The Black Dirt Farm. Black foodways is a huge theme for us here at WHC this fall and we implore you all to stop by Tehuti Ma'at Garden at 6:30pm!

Day two of #AAAM2017 has been beyond inspiring! Today's keynote speaker was Dr. Carla Hayden, 14th Librarian of Congress (the first woman + African American to do so) and we got a visit from our Executive Director, Tia Powell Harris.

WHC staffers Marvin and Stephanye are in Washington DC for the Association of African American Museums Conference! Check out our Instastories as they fellowship, learn, share, and collaborate with fellow Black museum workers. #AAAM2017

Thanks so much to @negusadeyemi and Empress Poetry for a great poetry workshop! Keep your eyes peeled for another installment in the fall. Be sure to follow and support @adeyemiartistry as he takes spoken word around the globe.

We are so happy to be screening "Sweet Sweet Country" along with eight other phenomenal short films by filmmakers from across the diaspora for the second installment of the "Freedom Film Festival". Tickets are still available and can be purchased via the link in our bio. See you tomorrow!

Last year, our friends at Hugh Gilroy Senior Center created artwork and a stop motion video for their Collage & Conservation exhibition. We are overjoyed to announce that Hugh Gilroy Senior Center will be back on July 20th to premiere their quilting show, led by artist Sylvia Hernandes! Quilting is a long-standing Black American tradition swiftly growing in popularity alongside the rise of Weeksville, so we are happy to bring textile art back to this historical land. Swipe left for full exhibition details. #TBT
