#DanceAfrica turns 40 this year. It's nothing but our ancestors that have sustained us thus far. Ase.

So incredibly blessed that the opening of #DanceAfrica was held on our sacred grounds. As we paid homage to our ancestors this morning, we want to send some special energy to #BabaChuck,founding Creative Director of Dance Africa, who we lost just days ago.

It's a special #FBF for us at Weeksville. @negusadeyemi, second runner up of April's Weeksville Weekend poetry slam is releasing a book! Meet us at @richardbeaversgallery this Sunday at 4pm as we celebrate Negus and the release of "Gemineye". Books will be available for purchase.

#DanceAfrica is celebrating it's 40th year and opening this monumental week with a libation ceremony to the ancestors on Weeksville's sacred grounds. Please join us on Saturday, May 20th at 10am as we pay homage through word and song to those who came before us.
