Last night, the first 2016 world champion was crowned.
Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron of France skated to gold with all new PB scores. Americans were 2-3 on the podium respectively, Maia and Alex Shibutani just edged out American teammates Madison Chock and Evan Bates.
Italian team Anna Capellini and Luca Lanotte skated a PB performance finishing a respectable 4th. This program was so light-hearted and elegant at the same time and one of my personal favourites of the night. Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier of Canada skated into 8th.
Kaitlyn and Andrew skated into 5th in the free dance with extreme artistry and character flow throughout but downgrades in levels may have cost them a medal. However, we could not be more proud of them. They represented Canada in such a humble and gracious way. When interviewed by Scott Russel shortly after their preformance, they said they are going to keep pushing and chasing that world tittle! The #WeaPoFamily will always be supporting them and proud no matter what the outcome.
