We Animals  Founded by Jo-Anne McArthur, now a small creative team telling the stories of animals through photos, film, and words.

This is the scale of factory farming. Tens of thousands of chickens packed into warehouses, suffering disease, deformity, and death. Nine billion chickens are killed for meat each year in the United States alone. These individuals are sent to slaughter at only six weeks old.

Fur is more common than we might think – from hood trims on coats, to pompoms on hats – real fur is often labelled as faux.

This fox is one of the most-requested We Animals photos. This image has been used in campaigns against fur around the world. Now, the farmer who confined this fox and thousands of other animals on a fur farm has been found guilty of animal cruelty. This is the first time a fur farmer has been found guilty of animal cruelty in Canada. Congratulations to @spcamontreal for their incredible work on this file.

And while this case is resolved, the images from this farm will continue to tell the stories of animals trapped on fur farms. Become a We Animals supporter today: link in bio

Did you know that thousands of our photos are available on the We Animals Archive and that they're free to use for anyone helping animals? In recent weeks we've added hundreds of new images.

Are you following @ayearofcaptivity? There isn't too much longer in our photo-a-day 2017 project, but we'll keep using that account to highlight the stories of animals trapped in – and rescued from! – captivity.

Repost from @ayearofcaptivity: Day 315

A review of Captive from Britta Jaschinski, photographer: “McArthur sums it all up. We can no longer keep animals like this. Haunting and sad, yet beautifully composed. A must-have book for all who care about animals."

This is what We Animals images are for! So thrilled to be contributing images to the new @lush and @hsiglobal campaign against fur 🙌
Visit uk.lush.com to read my firsthand account of what it's like to do an investigation on a fur farm.

Repost from @lush:

Is your fur really fake? Labels can lie. Sign the @hsiglobal petition for a #FurFreeBritain – tap the link in our bio👆🏿👆🏽👆🏻#WhatTheFur

A few hours wandering in the Dyrehave forest. Created as a hunting reserve, these animals now live safe, peaceful lives (apart from the odd irritating photographer who stalks them for a good portrait!). ❤

As the weather in the Northern Hemisphere gets colder, more fur appears on the streets on coat hoods, gloves, even the pom-poms on top of hats or on the ends of scarves. And while some see these as trendy accessories, many of us see the animals whose lives were taken in the name of fashion.

We Animals images have been used in fur-free campaigns around the globe. To help us keep telling these animals' stories, become a We Animals supporter today: patreon.com/weanimals or link in bio.

Doing what I love: sharing the stories of animals and talking about how we can be effective storytellers for them.

Lots of speaking events in Europe these past few weeks! This one was the Critical Animal Studies conference at Lund University. We're lucky to have so many great minds in our movement.

Thank you for the 📷 @johannordstrom82!
