Enjoying the wonderful collection of artworks from the APY Lands including ceramics from Ernabella and a collaborative painting by the Ken sisters from Amata on display at Longitude 131. Yet nothing, nothing, compares to the view from the balcony...

👁👁Just arrived from the framer, another extraordinary painting of Outside Men by Nyaparu William Gardiner. Nyaparu explores his memory as a boy of the displaced men he knew after the Pilbara Strike from 1946-49. Nyaparu says "The men I’m showing you are tired. It’s a hard life in those days and we had change a lot in this life. A lot of the time we didn’t get to decide where we went and why we had to leave our families. We would have to walk some other places, do another thing. That’s why the [1946] strike is important. We didn’t get told what to do anymore, we become independent and had more freedoms to do other things. Together we took some control and we started to help each other.#nyaparuwilliamgardiner # outsidemen #Tanarnthi #spinifexhillartists #vivienandersongallery #lookslikenolan #strellymob #pilbarastrike #australiastruehistory #
