I was among the 1.6m players who played FIFA 18 over the weekend.
THE GAMEPLAY. Defending system when playing offline, you have to time your challenges to perfection in order for them to connect. For defenders who stand around, this means you have to drag players out of position to deal with strikers. Attacking, passing and build up play are improved. Set pieces are okay although corners are the weakest of the lot. Calling players short and crossing is the best method. Conclusion; Gameplay feels slower than 17, the passing is good and the defending is hard.
THE ULTIMATE TEAM
For Squad battles if you win on world class or above, the rewards are good. You get 4 games a day (12 on weekends) and the amount of points you earn will place you in a tier, each tier will grant you different rewards come Monday of the following week. On the Objectives, the daily rewards range from bronze gift packs to 300 coins & are harder to complete because of their obscurity. Weekly objectives will grant you around 1.5K upon completion. Conclusion; Excited to see how the game progresses over the year.
THE JOURNEY. You play as Alex Hunter in the premier league, as Hunter is sent out on loan. The early street match in Brazil is fun but the guys on the other team are super OP. Ability to customize Alex with different hairstyles, tattoos and clothing is added. You get decent FUT rewards for completing The Journey.
CAREER MODE & PRO CLUBS
Career mode transfer changes affect the way you sign and sell players. Dynamic transfer negotiations is something you haven’t seen in a mode like this before. Pro Clubs got new customization options for custom club kits and a change to the attribute upgrade system. Conclusion; We can keep hoping for upgrades to these modes.
