Orkney Islands  An archipelago of over 70 islands off the north coast of Scotland. Vibrant. Unique. Inspirational. Share your journey #VisitOrkney

It's safe to say the last few days in Orkney have been quiet, calm and beautiful. We've been met with stunning sunrises and sunsets, calm seas and plenty of sunshine. This image looks down the west side of the islands towards the Old Man of Hoy and the hills of Sutherland on the Scottish mainland beyond. With views like this, long may it continue, that's what we say 😍 #visitorkney #loveorkney

Definitely some autumn vibes at Kirbuster Farm Museum at the moment. It's a beautiful spot, with its old stone buildings, bright red doors and the burn running nearby. And blue skies! Thank you, November πŸ’™ πŸ‚#visitorkney #loveorkney

The wild west coast of the Orkney mainland is definitely one of our favourite places to be at this time of year. You can have a cobweb-blowing coastline walk, a stormy stroll on a sandy beach or just watch the rolling waves from the comfort of your car. There is always a spectacular view just around the corner ❀ #visitorkney #loveorkney

Orkney's wartime heritage has been showcased as part of the UK's Armistice Day commemorations recently. It's hard to forget about the role Orkney played in two World Wars, with wartime reminders dotted around the islands. Places like the Churchill Barriers, the Italian Chapel and these defences at Hoxa Head are fascinating, emotive and poignant places to visit. #visitorkney #loveorkney

Kelp on the shore and stormy skies above the hills of Hoy. The view from Warebeth is always worth the walk from Stromness ❀ #visitorkney #loveorkney

Old mill buildings can be found dotted around Orkney. Most are run down and abandoned, but a select few, including this one, have been renovated and refurbished into beautiful and unique homes. It must be such a challenge, and such an expense, to do it, but you'd always have the knowledge that your home was a little part of island history. That would make any grand design worth it, don't you think? #visitorkney #loveorkney

Hay bales, blue seas and big skies - Orkney in autumn is 😍 #visitorkney #loveorkney

St Magnus Cathedral is always a welcome sight on the skyline of Kirkwall, the capital of Orkney. No matter how you approach this old Viking town, the cathedral spire helps guide the way ❀ #visitorkney #loveorkney

A house on the hill in Orkney, but no matter how much farmland you have nearby, the sea is always close. Definitely one of the main perks of island life πŸ’™ Have a great weekend folks πŸ‘ #visitorkney #loveorkney

Scapa beach is just a two minute drive from the centre of Kirkwall - perfect for a lunchtime stroll or a quick walk to blow away the cobwebs. It's a popular place with dog walkers, kite surfers, kayakers and swimmers too. And, as you can see, it's the home of @scapawhisky. What more could you want? πŸ₯ƒ #visitorkney #loveorkney
