Pure golden hour. During winter in Mechelen, you can put your skates on, explore the city from the Dyle or climb to the top of the Tower of St Rumbold and be rewarded with an astonishing 360 view.. Many options for you to discover.

Did you know that Bruges' beguinage is still inhabited by nuns of the Order of St. Benedict? A visit here is like stepping back in time...

A wonderful sight, the Atomium covered in snow. Winter is here in Flanders! Do you know what the original meaning of the spheres is? Picture by @gautierhouba

It’s been snowing in Flanders! ❄️❄️
Have you visited Belgium when it’s been snowing? We’d love to hear about your experience! Lovely picture by @tvwfoto_tim_van_wichelen

Flemish people are nothing if not inventive. When the mining industry in eastern Belgium city Genk closed down, the locals transformed the area into a truly unique creative space. The coal mine has since been renamed C-Mine and how hosts dance, theatre and even comedy performances as well as acting as a thriving community hub. Picture by @myriam_op_de_beeck

Seek out hidden streets in Bruges, you’ll be rewarded with view like these.

The Cathedral of Our Lady has dominated the skyline of Antwerp since 1521. As well as being the highest Gothic building in the low countries the sheer level of detail on the church facade is astounding.

The Grand Place isn’t just one of the prettiest places in Brussels, it’s also the capital’s historic heart and was once its political and commercial centre. Decorated with gold, these ornate guildhalls span across various architectural style including Gothic, Baroque and Louis XIV. Picture by @chicneverland

Day 5 of the takeover. It's far too easy to find beautiful views in Mechelen, you don't even have to try! Just behind St Rumbold’s Cathedral was a small garden surrounded by architectural gems just like this. Tip: When visiting Mechelen, find this building and then turn around to a huge yellow man partly buried in the ground... it's one of the quirks that make me love Flanders!

Day 4 of this takeover! Did you know about Flanders’ UNESCO World Heritage Béguinages? One such area is found in Mechelen, there is a large and small Beguinage where many years ago unmarried women set up their own sustainable community; a town within a town. The best way to explore is to discard the map and wander through the tiny streets. I discovered the area is full of surprises at every corner; stealing charming views such as this one.
