The Skokie Park District's Emily Oaks Nature Center has many great employees that help keep it a beautiful oasis in Skokie. One of which is Stephen Doyle. He has worked at Emily Oaks for nearly four years. His proudest moments there are planting new native trees and shrubs, tending to and transplanting the greenhouse plants (These native wildflowers and grasses are propagated by the Land Management staff and volunteers from local seed at Emily Oaks.) and the not-so-rare wildlife sightings.
He recalled a time along the back trail, as he passed by what he thought was a big rock. To his surprise, it moved and then realized it was a large snapping turtle the size of a small dog! He’s also spotted small owls, hawks and all kinds of deer.
Stephen has been a Skokie resident for more than 20 years and attended summer camp at Emily Oaks as a kid. Other things that interest Stephen are martial arts, reading, meditation and his dog.
Skokie is happy that Stephen is deepened his childhood roots into a career in at the Skokie Park District! Thank you Stephen!
