Congratulations to @royalvetcollege principal Stuart Reid, who has been made a #CBE in the #QueensBirthdayHonours for his contributions to the veterinary profession and higher education.

Data released by @britishinsurers has revealed pet insurance companies settled one million claims in 2017 for the first time in the industry’s history.

Insurers also paid out a total of £775 million in claims – the highest figure on record. 🎬 Some of the headline figures from the data.

The words of BVA senior vice-president Gudrun Ravetz after @morethan warned the increasing humanisation of pets is leading to a raft of potentially serious health issues.

According to the insurer's report, "The Future of Pet Ownership", the root of the problem lies in a lack of owner education and/or willingness to appropriately address the needs of their pets.

During her lecture at @thebsava Congress, #Vetlife Helpline manager Rosie Allister stressed the importance of new graduates seeking support in first jobs and how a lack of it can be the root cause of many problems. “Some new graduates feel a lack of support is inevitable during their first few years in practice and something they have to accept, but supportive first jobs do exist and there are practices that do a huge amount to support new graduates,” she said.
