Looking for your next summer read? Our Center for American Architecture and Design released a new publication by Senior Lecturer and Architectural Designer Joyce Rosner.
Titled “Centerline 12: Spatial Speculations: Drawing from the Gardens of Versailles,” the book includes 44 vibrant watercolors by Rosner (like the one pictured here) as well as essays by Rosner, architects Tod Williams, Billie Tsien, Perry Kulper, and Landscape Architecture historian Mirka Benes.
Creating this series of drawings combined Rosner's interests in space, color, form, line, and landscape. The drawings are speculations about an existing place—the Gardens of Versailles—and its potential for abstraction.
