August 30, 2016. Help, my mirror’s broken, it’s showing me the wrong person. Mirrors were a huge problem for me for the longest time.
For me, being trans comes with a lot of baggage. Mirrors could easily trigger my dysphoria. It’s lessened a lot by now, but still there.

July 14th, 2017. Ahhhhhhh yes, going to the doctor is fun. He definitely not awful and doesn’t make me feel othered at all. He chuckled as if that were just some weird/fun anecdote. I was horrified.

August 28th, 2016. The early days of transitioning really exacerbated my social anxiety in public. As usual, despite being visibly trans at the time, this had nothing to do with my actual appearance and more fearing negative reactions from others. (This isn't about fishing for compliments.) August 29th, 2016. More fun times with internalized transphobia and a lack of self-acceptance. This sorta thing Still lingers, popping up now & then. I gotta be vigilant in recognizing it & calling it out when my brain is being a dummy.

August 28th, 2016. 18 months ago now. I've reached a level of self acceptance by now such that it's hard to imagine ever having to question it.

August 25th, 2016. Transitioning can be incredibly stressful and brings with it so many worries!! Try to remember to be kind to yourself.

This is why I #showup. http://Pride.Google is a dedicated site showing local pride events across the country, community center info, etc. Check it out sometime 🏳️‍🌈 (I'm not being paid for this, Google reached out and I think it's super cool.)

August 24th, 2016. Still fairly early on in my transition and having dealt with being occasionally misgendered put me on my guard in public. I dealt with it by just forging ahead and trying to keep pushing my comfort zone out further. I was gonna wear whatever the heck I wanted!!
Anyway, I don’t feel this way any more (unless my dysphoria gets particularly bad). It’s a nice place to be.

Some birthday thoughts from last week. Sometimes I tear up at how great things are.

August 23rd, 2016. Oops. I had been using makeup daily as a crutch to avoid being misgendered and began attempting to wean myself off. Keyword being attempting.
