Two weeks ago, I competed in my first olympic weightlifting meet. It was such a great experience and I learned so much about myself and competing in general. It was very different from anything I'd ever experienced.
I didn't do quite as well as I wanted to, but I'm really proud that I was able to make at least one of each of my lifts and also set a new PR on the platform for the clean and jerk!
I was able to hit one of my three lifts in the snatch at 44kg/97lbs, and two of my three lifts in the clean and jerk at 55kg/121lbs and 63kg/138lbs to get a total of 107kg and miraculously place in second for my weight class.
I'm very happy that I participated in this meet. I was on the fence about competing for a while, unsure of whether or not I would be ready for it, considering I only started the sport 6 months ago. I came out of it with a different perspective on weightlifting and competing, awareness of my weaknesses, and a whole lot of motovation.
I have so much love and appreciation for the fantastic people who have coached me and supported me throughout all of this, and I also appreciate the family and friends who came out to watch me.
As of tomorrow, we're 10 weeks away from the CANUSA Winter Open and I cannot wait to get on the platform again. I'm also super excited to cheer on some of my best and most inspiring friends as we all show Detroit what the CLE Barbell Club is made of! It's gonna be #lit 🔥
