Foreign & Commonwealth Office  World affairs for the British Government. Promoting & protecting British people, prosperity & influence

“I don’t want my three children to inherit a world that’s damaged beyond repair” – Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt. Today marks the third anniversary of the Paris climate agreement, a deal where nations unanimously agreed on the need to tackle the dangers of climate change. There is now only 12 years left to keep global warming to a maximum of 1.5C to prevent climate catastrophe, the limit agreed to in the Paris declaration. At current commitment levels, the UN have warned that global warming is set to increase by 3C. The UK is committed to increasing efforts to combat climate change and reduce CO2 emissions to prevent environmental catastrophe and to preserve the planet for the next generation.

80 years ago, Ruth’s parents sent her to Britain on the Kindertransport to seek refuge from Nazi Germany. They didn’t know if they would ever see her again. This is the identity card she took with her when she made the journey aged 3 years old.

Tonight the British Embassy Berlin and @auswaertigesamt are hosting an event with many of those who were saved by the Kindertransport.
