Agree. I once went with my ex-mother in law to a meeting at her group and they began the meeting with a “prayer” that stated that they should be ashamed of themselves for being fat and that it was up to them to “fix the problem” and please others by losing weight. #effoffwiththat

I’m still reeling over Weight Watchers’ new move to offer free memberships to teens.

This is predatory behavior. #WeightWatchers is not interested in wellness. #WW is interested in profits. Because it is no secret that the 95% failure rate of diets means repeat customers for life. They have a 6-8 week retargeting strategy listed in their investment brochure as proof that selling weight loss means 💰💰💰 I was 10 years old when my pediatrician convinced my parents that Weight Watchers would save me from the bullies. It didn’t.

I studied the rhetoric of Weight Watchers’ marketing for my dissertation. Trust me when I tell you: Weight Watchers is a predatory company that does not care about your child’s health.

p.s. Weight Watchers is deliberately using “WW” rebranding to distance themselves from associations with dieting. Don’t be fooled. They still sell eating disorders.

Who wants a free #igyoga therapy session? I’m the therapist. I’ll be throwing out groups of poses, and you’ll pick your most feared, your most hated pose, inside that group and post it. The groups are as follows: ..
.
.
😈BACKBEND 😈INVERSION
😈ARM BALANCE 😈HIPS
😈TWIST 😈BALANCE
😈STANDING...
.
.
There’s a catch. In return for me not making you tag 1,000,000 people and follow 5,000,000 sponsor pages, you have to post video. No still pics allowed. There’s a reason for this. I want you to put your phone on, let it roll, and let out your honest, raw reaction to those poses you despise (this is the therapeutic part). One take. That’s it. No filming a million times trying to get it right. If you have to curse, yell, spit, or punch your mat...just let it fly....😈JOIN ME FOR #FUCKTHATPOSE 😈
.
.
As usual, I’m hosting alone. Follow me or don’t, it doesn’t matter, just make sure you check my page at night for the following day’s post. No sponsors. No prizes. We are just doing it for the gram, and to take out some frustration....
.
.
Two rules : 1)share the flyer. Maybe you have a friend or two who wants to play along. 2) your page has to be public so I can see you, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #FUCKTHATPOSE so you’re in the gallery. First post goes up the evening of February 17th. 😈

🌞🌈 All. Every. No woman left behind 🌈🌞Today in the UK lots of people are celebrating 100 years of women's suffrage - February 6th 1918 marks the first advancement in UK women's suffrage, with the law changing to allow women over 30 who owned property the right to vote (it wasn't until 10 years later that all women over 21 were allowed to vote). I always think that these milestone celebrations should be times when we not only recognise the achievements and voices of the women who are traditionally celebrated, but also the women whose achievements and voices are so often left out of the conversation, and the history books.

The voices that are overlooked are often the ones who are the most marginalised - women of colour, disabled women, trans women, women who fought and continue to fight without the same recognition that their white, able-bodied cis-ters get. So today I'm using this landmark to remind myself and everyone else to support and celebrate ALL women, especially the ones our culture so often chooses not to. "I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own." - Audre Lorde 💜💙💚🌈🌞
P.s. there's an amazing article on @theunedit right now celebrating the marginalised voices of UK suffrage, I've put the link in my stories! 🌸
P.p.s. picture is from @sheisrecovering 🌻

You don’t have to agree with me, and I sure as heck don’t have to agree with you.

If you have to sacrifice your mental wellbeing for it, then THAT'S NOT MEANT TO BE YOUR BODY BOO. How about instead of punishing ourselves to fit an image we were never SUPPOSED to be, we work on: 🌸 accepting that we are not all supposed to look the same. Seriously. 🌻 teaching people that all bodies are worthy of respect, regardless of how they look. 🌺 reframing how we talk about health to always, alwaaaaaays include mental health. 🌼 and promising to stop punishing ourselves, because existing in a body that falls outside of the cultural ideal is not a crime. Never has been. We've just been made to feel like it is. 💜💙💚🌈🌞 Quote from @nourishandeat who also wrote a brilliant caption about the science behind set point theory - go check it out! 💐
