Happy Kwanzaa!!!! Unfortunately, each year Kwanzaa is greeted with indifference by some black folk or mockery by some ignorant white folk. For the holiday purists out there, all holidays were made up--Kwanzaa, Christmas Hanukkah, etc--no actual difference. Although the age and origin of each holiday varies, they all are attached to purposes related to nationalism, culture and/or religion.
I am not concerned with the interest or mockery directed toward Kwanzaa by those of other races, for some, Kwanzaa is simply yet another opportunity to devalue something black, something African. However, I continue to be disappointed with some of my brothers and sisters whom attach indifference and/or ignorant toward this constructive effort to promote and celebrate ideas and actions that belong in our culture, and should live vibrantly within our lifestyles. We celebrate and consume so many things of lesser value, that have minimal lasting benefits. Why not celebrate Kwanzaa at home, with your family and/or within your community? Too much time? Too much money? Too much ..? Too much, to whom? #Kwanzaa #Black #African #love #panafrican #africanamerican #pride #culture #race #humans #humanity #politics
