It was so hard to walk out of the bookstore with only these two books the other day! I wanted to pick up Vicious too but i'll probably go back for it after i finish this series. Victoria Schwab's writing is so addictive - i remember reading Vicious in one day when i first read it a few years ago, and right now i'm reading and loving the Shades of Magic series.
Alice Hoffman is starting to become one of my favourite authors, with Faithful being just as beautifully written as her other works that i've read. It revolves around Shelby and the aftermath of a devastating car accident that leaves her guilt-ridden and traumatised. It is a quietly powerful novel about fate, dogs, and the healing power of love from friends, family, and your own self. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My bookstagram turns three years old today! I've read over 150 books in that time and it's been fun documenting it right here on this account. It's pretty cool to be able to scroll back and see the books i've read and all the old tags i did, although i will admit that i've deleted quite a few old photos that weren't that great 😂 I love interacting with you all and being a part of this awesome community, so here's to many more years of posting book pics! 🎉
“I’ve never been angry to have been born a woman. There have been times I’ve been angry at how the world treats us, but I see being a woman as a challenge I must fight. Like being born under a stormy sky. Some people are lucky enough to be born on a bright summer’s day. Maybe we were born under clouds. No wind. No rain. Just a mountain of clouds we must climb each morning so that we may see the sun.” • Flame in the Mist was fantastic, i wanted more as soon as i finished it! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Star-Touched Queen was a good book but I thought it had a few flaws so unfortunately I didn't enjoy it as much as i thought i would. I liked the idea of the Hades and Persephone retelling but the writing and romance were a bit too hyped up for me. Rating: 3.5⭐️
Happy 20th birthday to this life-changing book + series! I started reading the Harry Potter series in the early '00s when i was in primary school & i can still remember little flashes of my childhood that relate to this amazing series. Like the time our primary school had a Harry Potter day where we were sorted into houses and had a 'feast' in the assembly hall, lining up early on release days to buy the later books in the series, and watching the Philosopher's Stone at the cinemas with my dad when i was only 6 years old. I have so much love for this wonderful world and its characters, and i cannot wait to pass on the magic of this series to my own children in another 20 years from now ⚡️❤
"At times i felt that the universe fabricated from the power of the imagination had stronger and more lasting contours than the blurred realm of the flesh-and-blood creatures around me." - Eva Luna by Isabel Allende Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My #excitedtbr, thank you @bvkspine for tagging me 😃 I can't wait to read these books over the next few weeks, and they're all written by WOC! Whilst i try to keep diversity in mind when adding books to my tbr list, i've been lacking in diverse reads lately so i'm very excited to change that with these books.
I loved The Hating Game 😍 Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favourite tropes and it was done perfectly in this novel! The chemistry and banter between the two main characters was so addictive. It's been a long time since i've read a fluffy contemporary novel and i forgot how much fun they are to read. I can see myself reading this one again when i need a bit of a pick-me-up after a heavy novel because it was so, so good! Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
