Remember this. We all feel niggles from time to time but if we feel them often or intensely, we need to listen to what our bodies are saying. If you have to make some adjustments to training to accommodate your pain or injury, do it! It’s better to listen to the whisper than let it worsen!

Today I started my 15 mike trainer ride doing a Sweet Spot training (SST) workout on @gozwift and my legs were just not up to it. Still sore so I listened and I backed off a bit. No sense in killing myself over one workout, especially this early on in IM training!

In all seriousness, today was my first real swim back after about 6-7 months hiatus and I felt surprisingly good. Definitely have a long road back to feeling strong in the pool again but that will come with time and practice.

One thing I struggle with is flip turns. I’m just not great at them but now my new pool has really slippery tiles making it even more challenging 🤦🏼‍♀️ Do you all use flip turns or stick to open turns? Do you think flip turns make a positive difference in your swim training? 🏊‍♂️ •••

First brick of @ironmanargentina training: DONE ✅. Definitely will have to work on controlling my speed out of T2 over the next 6 months. I always feel great running off the bike but after 112 miles I may be a little worn out 😂.

And just like that... @ironmanargentina training begins with a 15 miler on the trainer. I’ve got 25 weeks of fun yet challenging work ahead of me and I’m both excited and anxious. I’ll be traveling quite a bit over the next couple of months which will make it that much more challenging to get in all the swimming 🏊🏼‍♀️, biking 🚴🏼‍♀️, and running 🏃🏼‍♀️. As long as I’m smart and plan ahead, all should be ok. 👌🏼 •••

Progress, not perfection. Remind yourself that even for the pros, not every training session is going to be perfect. So don’t hold yourself to unreal expectations! Try your hardest even if it’s not going your way, in the long run it will pay off.

Today I tried out “The McCarthy Special” on @gozwift which features lots of anaerobic efforts that build up over time. It was TOUGH. And those hardest intervals at the end of the build up were really hard to hold on tired legs. I took a couple breathers to make it through 🤷🏼‍♀️ And you know what? I still feel stronger for completing it! Don’t be afraid to try something that’s “too hard” for you. If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you, right?!

I keep reminding myself but it doesn’t make the mental block of getting out the door any easier. 😂What does is remembering you have goals, things you want to achieve, races you want to finish, times you want to beat. And none of that will come to fruition if you’re too scared to brave the elements!

Side note: I decided to try Zombie 🧟‍♀️Run today because I wanted to do some speed work but wanted to enjoy it (tall order, I know). I have to say I wasn’t terribly impressed by it but I may need to give it a couple more tries. What really got me running though were the real-life zombies chasing Khali and I on a new run route. Dogs were EVERYWHERE and most were not confined. And they weren’t the cute, fluffy ones either. They sounded like they wanted to eat me for lunch and Khali for dessert. Definitely had us running faster 😂

Today was a “shut up legs” kinda day. 💪🏼 Did the Mat Hayman Paris Roubaix training ride on @gozwift and I don’t think my legs have EVER felt heavier! The last few intervals were pure torture but I loved every minute of it 🤪
I know Zwift is gunna make me a much better rider and I’m stoked 😝

What is it about a yoga mat that makes me just wanna take a nap?! 😴 😂 Stretching and resting after 4 miles around Parque Norte with my little girl in the cold. It was 27*F when I got up this morning 😩 Winter has come ❄️ Hoping my lungs will acclimate quickly! I’m not a fan of that burn my lungs feel when it’s cold outside but I’m happy to be running nonetheless.

Easy @gozwift ride this morning and some strength training to get back into the groove after a bit of traveling in South America. 🌎✈️🗺 Picked something up, possibly a parasite or bacteria, in Chile last week and I have never been sicker. 🤢 Finally went to the doctor 👩‍⚕️ yesterday and I’m starting to feel better. Hoping some movement will help with recovery!
