Sometimes running feels like floating, other times you feel the sting, but the important part is that you took the steps towards your goals! Got 5 relatively easy miles in this morning before work. It was definitely a "floating" kind of day especially since I took Saturday and Sunday off training and spent 12 hours in class this weekend! Back to the grind!😝😝😝

Normally Wednesday would have consisted of a morning run and an afternoon swim but I think this 70.3 training is catching up with me because I just couldn't convince myself to get out of bed this morning. My body told me I needed a little extra sleep, so I listened. My 1650 yd. swim felt a little weak but then I headed out for 4 miles of "hills" and really surprise myself. Although my legs felt a little heavy at first, I felt like the overall run was pretty damn good for running in 98 degrees! Moral of the story: be flexible and don't be afraid to move your training schedule around a bit in order to listen to your body!😊

Timed our ride JUST right tonight and missed the rain🙌🏼 It was starting to look like we might have to get 30 miles in on the trainer but we lucked out and we're able to get it done outside. ☺️Now I just gotta find some grub, I'm famished!!

Holy side-stitch! 😫Went for a 4 mile run at lunch today since I had a late night last night and didn't wake up for my morning run. It was hot and sweaty but luckily it was just an "easy" run. Unfortunately, the last mile was not so easy. I got the worst side-stitch but quitting was not an option since I had to get back to the office! Normally I can force myself to burp and I usually feel better but I definitely didn't work today! At least I didn't quit though, that would have hurt more! What do you do when YOU get a side-stitch?!

Was literally fixin' to get a quick swim in when one hell of a storm blew into the area. I'm not about swimming while there's lighting nearby so the open water swim will have to wait.⚡️🌧⚡️ It was technically a rest day anyway so I'm not missing out. Also got in a leisurely mountain bike ride with my good friend and our 3 dogs earlier so I'd say I achieved the "active" rest day I was hoping for. Hope this rain goes away soon! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Went out for a 40 mile ride this morning only to get caught in a downpour.🌧☔️🌧☔️ Had to turn back early but after this week's training, I can't say I was terribly disappointed😂 My legs were certainly pleased about it! Time for real rest and recovery.☺️

Started off my day with an 8 mile run on REALLY tired legs. Yesterday's brick in the morning and Time Trial bike race in the afternoon left me with cinderblock legs. I really had to tell myself I could get this run done because my mind and body were both protesting. I blocked it all out and smashed out a solid run.

With the popularity of social media, like Insta or Strava, it's really easy to get caught up in the performance of others. I know I struggle with it at times. But agonizing over other peoples times or paces won't make you any faster. It might serve as some motivation but, you should try to focus more on how you performed on the last session and if you're seeing improvements in YOUR performance!

Chased my hot guy around a 4 mile loop this morning before work. Khali was dragging her butt until her daddy passed us🙄. Then she pulled me to 8:40 pace as she tried to catch back up with him. He also claims there was a creepy guy running this morning in tighty whities🤔. I missed that but when I saw this quote it really just struck a chord😂. I'll be on the lookout for him in the future. Maybe that's the scare I need to start shaving down my splits!😜

Did an entire 25 mile ride today in my small chain ring 🙄 Had some mechanical issues that couldn't be fixed quickly on the road so I just had to deal! It ended up being better than I expecting but still a little frustrating! Oh well, we keep chugging along😊

It's official, I finally put my money where my mouth is and registered for my first 70.3 in November!🤗 There's no backing out now!

Ran 4 miles in the rain this morning followed by some weight training. Finished the day off in the pool with an easy 1100m recovery swim! Felt a little slow today mainly because it was the first time I swam long course in quite some time🙄😂

Rest and recovery is JUST as important to reaching your goals as the actual training! What's your favorite way to recover after a hard week of training?
