Slightly different kind of bike ride today exploring the island a bit more.🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️🚴🏼‍♀️ I couldn’t believe how uncoordinated I felt on a beach cruiser being that it was my first time! Which bike are you most comfortable on???

Up before the sun for 4 miles through town and on the beach this morning. Kept us simple and fun while we watched the sun rise over the horizon. Sunrise is gorgeous but I think I’m more of a sunset girl... What about you???

Swimming with the Mexican fishes...and also eating as much fresh pescado as I can😳 Sorry friends😜🐠🐟🐙🦑🦐🦀 •••••
How do my ocean-swimming friends handle the saltwater on swim?! I feel like I get a bit in my mouth and it gets SO dry! Do you just get used to it after a while?!

Two weeks ago, I raced my first half iron distance race. Today, I finally woke up in Holbox, Mexico itching to run again. It was so nice to get out, explore and watch the people of the island wake up. My heart rate was high, my pace was slow but even so, I was happy to put in just a couple miles.☺️ Also, today was the first day I tried out my new @goodr glasses that were included in my @mercurymile box. They were awesome! Stylish AND they stayed in place the whole time despite my excessive movement and sweaty face😂

Missing the grind of training for the 70.3 already so I’m throwing it back to the MS 150 ride we used to log a few miles. Preparing for an international move is no joke! Hoping I can get at least a few runs in here and there but right now we are stretched thin. Any helpful hints to remember when relocating to another country?

Not every run is going to feel like your best, that’s just how it goes! Today was definitely not my day. My body felt fine but my heart rate was elevated, my lungs burned, and my ears felt full of fluid🙄 It wasn’t miserable by any means but it just wasn’t great. Good thing the weather was pleasant and I got to spend 4 miles with my little monster. Oh well, on to the next one!

A NEW ADVENTURE BEGINS: Our family is excited to announce that, come January, we will be making a big move... to ARGENTINA!!🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🙌🏼🤗☺️ The dogs and bikes are all coming along. We will be living in Neuquén, Argentina for the next 3 years as we continue training for and racing in triathlons. We’ll be pretty close to the Andes so we are looking forward to more off-road adventures!⛰🏕🌎

Easy 2 mile treadmill run this morning to stretch my little chicken legs because it was 37 degrees outside and I'm not hardcore enough for that unless I have a race coming up! Which brings me to my run leg recap:

Coming in off the bike I felt pretty good. My muscles were warm and I knew I needed to control my pace in order to finish strong. So I did my best to rein in the horses and then the sun came out and it got HOT! At the first aid station I decided to grab a gatorade and keep running...then I choked on it and decided that unless I was just going to grab water to pour on my body for a cool down, that I would walk the aid stations. The first loop didn't feel great but I kept chugging along at a fair pace. The second loop was a little better and by the last mile, I was feeling good and sprinted the last hundred meters to the finish line. It was glorious to be done! I finished in 2:13:50 which was about a 10:13 pace. I know I need to keep working on my run but I'm happy with it for now! •••••
What leg do you want to improve most on??

The bike leg:
First of all, I was blessed with the presence of the talented @scottflathousephoto who shot this epic photo. If you haven't already, go check out his feed, he's amazing! •••••
Coming out of the water I felt pretty good. I decided to throw on socks for this race which didn't take me long at all and I quickly made it to the mount line at the same time as @trimansam because even though he started at least 8 minutes after me in the swim, he still almost caught me! Although I look like a stone cold killer in this shot, I swear I had a "shit-eating grin" on my face for most of the 56 mile ride.😁😁😁 I kept thinking to myself that I was probably less aero with my mouth open, but I didn't care, I was having so much fun. It was a hilly course but nothing I couldn't handle. I stuck with @tailwindnutrition the whole way which worked pretty well for me even though I was burping a lot toward the end of the ride. 😳Finished the ride in 3:04:15 with an average of 18.2 mph and about 2,500 feet of elevation gain AND according to the race results, I ranked #1 in my AG on the bike! 🤗Super thrilled with this leg of the race.

Nice easy recovery swim this afternoon as I continue to reflect on Sunday's 70.3.
This was my first beach wave start and even though I was chill as a cucumber during my warm up, as soon as I heard the first shot go off, my heart started jumping out of my chest. I took off for the water and got to the outside of my wave to avoid getting smacked in the face. After about 100 meters, I was able to calm myself down and ease into the groove. At the time, I wasn't sure how well or fast I was swimming but I knew I was catching some of the women from the wave in front of mine. By the last 100 meters, I felt my swim cap slipping off my head so on one stroke I grabbed my cap and stuffed it in my wetsuit and kept swimming to the stairs. Finished the swim in 38:54 and ranked 5th in my AG for the swim. Much better than I had anticipated considering that I didn’t get much swimming in the weeks leading up to the race!

#medalmonday with this hunk. @trimansam and I both placed in our AG yesterday at my first 70.3 and his first 70.3 since he did the same one 10 years ago! It was an unseasonably hot day in November. The bike course was hilly and the run was hot. But we have that course everything we had and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience AND the result. Already thinking about our next adventure...🤔🤔🤔😂

So stoked about today’s race. Gave a really solid effort on all three disciplines in m first 70.3 and ended up with 3rd in my AG. More recap to come. Now for rest and quality time with my family. 😁😋🤗😝
