Backing off the weightlifting percentages this week - light, snappy and technically perfect!
Started off the session with Russian dips in the warmup and a 5m Strict MU EMOM - last set shown here.
Then block Snatches at 235 for a Power + Full!

I love seeing lower percentages in the program. They are always a great mental and physical reprieve. No Games aspiring athlete goes 100% year round - i promise you.

When the @crossfitgames final workout came out i was stoked. It looked great for me - hspu of any kind have always been a strength... But I’d never been on parallettes. The deficit plate work I️ was used to was so different. I got destroyed. I bought a pair the next day, and have been on them a lot. Yesterday i had a solid ‘progress check’... 15m EMOM:

I always tell my athletes, if you’re going to miss a ‘power lift’, do me a favor and miss it in a squat. Pretty easy to take your own advice when you’d rather squat everything anyway 🙄

Loading was 175/195/215/235/255 and 225/245/265/285/305. 2s shown. Some squat triples with a 3s pause on rep one felt great at 325!

In my opinion, short/faster workouts are always the scariest - because you know they are going to hurt a whole lot if you do them right. Pacing and longer workouts i find ‘easier’, because it’s all breathing & consistency.

But it’s also fun to run right at the pain train with open arms and crazy eyes.

Glad these didn’t look as slow as they felt. 3 Singles at 90% (330) today felt just horrible - i’m always happy to hit this weight unbelted though! Stoked with the save on rep 2 though even though i saw a whole galaxy of stars.
Finished up the strength work with 3x3 real pull-ups at 48kg.

Focused on holding paces that are 1 second faster than whatever @mathewfras is holding.. But seriously, 8x500m with 90s rest starting at 5k PR pace. Goal was just negative splits, but i wanted to try and get EXACTLY 1 second faster every time...i was meh.
