Be a part of something while you travel!!! If you are in Cape Town come join us to support @refugeefoodfestival ’s Cape Town event between 16th and 25th of June 2018... What is The Refugee Food Festival?
The RFF is an event where refugee chefs are invited to cook in local restaurants. The aim is to raise awareness and create job opportunities.
The Refugee Food Festival invites refugee chefs to cook in local restaurants. Different day, different restaurant, different chef! The RFF is a citizen-led project aimed at raising awareness around challenges faced by refugees, and celebrating cultural diversity through food. Over the last few years, the RFF has taken place in 15 European cities in the days surrounding World Refugee Day on June 20. This June, this citizen-led initiative will, for the first time this year, be present in Cape Town, New York and San Francisco. We believe Cape Town to be a particularly relevant city to host the RFF as the city has the highest number of asylum-seekers/refugees in the South Africa, as well as an ever-growing unique culinary scene.
We have an exciting program of events, with restaurants, markets, and companies opening up their kitchens and collaborating with a guest chef to cook up a delicious menu, showcasing their story, passions, and home.
