Keeping things real there. Thanks for sharing, it's easy to forget before one goes abroad that there will be tough times with the good times too! Chin up, you're rocking it and there are always a bunch of ears here if you need to unload ❤️
"It's all fun and games and until the internet is down.
This week of work has been one of the most challenging to date.
Upon your arrival in Thailand as a foreign teacher, you are told constantly to expect a certain level of spontaneity or, as we would call it back home, lack of communication or planning. You are told constantly to embrace the "Mai ben rai" philosophy of "no worries". This is good advice, necessary advice. But some days it's just not that easy.
You expect, being a teacher, for your biggest challenges to be in the classroom. But sometimes the challenge comes in working in a social structure you will never fully understand. There is a level of transparency and approachability that one needs in a work environment, that is absent for foreigners in this country.
That's hard to adapt to. But adapt we shall."
