An unexpected experience on this last trip was getting to hold an 800 year old Japanese sword. It was oddly terrifying to hold something 30 times my age, that was in almost perfect condition. It seemed to have been made yesterday.

A big chunk of this trip to Japan was spent rolling through the countryside in a rented camper van with @timmermaneric and @ocuenc. .

We drove on the left-hand side, hiked in the snow, got lost on the toll roads of Tokyo and made dumb jokes about pretty much everything. It was a dearly needed dose of laughter and inspiration in what has been a challenging year. .

The tallest bamboo can grow to almost 100 feet high.

We never know what's coming next. I have no clue, I just continue.

The Nijō-jo castle was built in 1679 and was the birthplace and the deathplace of the Edo period. Photography is prohibited indoors, but I had to snap a quicky of the ceilings.
