Rachel Harper  Tracking my training for my first upcoming half-marathon! Running, weights, yoga.

10.3 miles. I haven't run double digits since high school! And for the first time I think I really can survive this half marathon! ๐Ÿ˜‚

This was the best I could get! ๐Ÿ˜ But 5 tempo miles....felt easy. I think it had something to do with the wind. ๐Ÿ˜‰ For once the wind worked to my advantage! #runnersofinstagram #halfmarathontraining #motherrunner

It's not every day I get a mid day run. But when the alarm went off at 5am our baby was already awake and crabby and wanted nothing to do with daddy. So I stayed home. But it just so happened that the hubs was able to take a long lunch and allowed me to run. 6 miles. Half of which were up hill, into the wind. I had to keep my positive affirmations on repeat to get through it! But on the flip side I got to go downhill, against the wind on the way back. P.S. I'm really hoping this weather is here for good.

Speed work on the treadmill. 4ร—800 at HMP minus 65 secs divided by 2. Treadmills aren't my favorite, but they do come in handy for speed work. I always set the incline to 1 because a long time ago I read that will mimic running outside, otherwise it would be like running downhill. Does that still hold true or is that outdated information?? #treadmillrunning #motherrunner #runningmom #runnersofinstagram #halfmarathontraining

8 mile run complete! So happy with the progress! It felt so good to be outside and I have some things to work on...Like where I can take my jacket off and not lose it and how to strategically place water bottles along the way so I can have something to drink. #motherrunner #runnersofinstagram #run

Week 2, day 2 half marathon training. 6 mile tempo...reality...4 miles. Yesterday I drove around the neighborhood checking out the ice status. Everything looked good so I planned to run outside the next morning. Butttt I woke up to snow, not a lot so I ran anyway. It was my first time running in the snow (and while it was snowing). It was slower than planned, but it felt sooo good to run outside!
