It’s easy to see why Toronto consistently lands on all of the “world’s most livable cities” lists. ☺️❤️🏙

Neither beautiful nor architecturally inspired, the Omni Hotel, Louisville’s 3rd tallest building, is commanding nonetheless. Racing toward it’s opening tomorrow, the building, which received public financing incentives equivalent to half the project cost, has high expectations placed on it in terms of catalyzing local economic development. The Yum! Center, three blocks away, received more than three times the amount of public financing, and has ostensibly ignited a number of development and redevelopment projects. Of course, whether or not these classic economic development projects have actually penciled out in the public’s favor is still a matter of legitimate debate...

If you could redesign your office how would you? #OfficeCharette

After spending months encased in scaffolding and then months more of drab winter skies, City Hall finally, fully reclaimed its place on government square today! :) Built in 1873, City Hall was Louisville’s first building designed to bring all of the functions of government under one roof. Designed in a Beaux Arts style, City Hall projected confidence and optimism following the Civil War. The relief under the cornice captures the hope of civic leaders who believed that renewed connections with the Deep South would bring the city’s economy back from its war-time doldrums. Nearly 150 years later, City Hall still serves as the home of Metro Council and several other bureaucratic offices. The Mayor’s Office moved across the street to the newly minted “Metro Hall” following the City-County Merger in 2003.

Steady rains from a slow-moving cold front have pushed the Ohio beyond its banks and across the wharf this week. With approximately 5 more inches of rain expected, the river, which is already 2.5 feet above flood stage is expected to rise another 4 feet before cresting Sunday afternoon. #Louisville #Downtown #Flood
