The SURFER Awards are coming up on December 6th, which means we need your help determining this year’s SURFER Poll winners. In return, not only will you get to see your favorite male and female surfers grace the podium in Hawaii, but you might also pick up a slick new Pyzel custom surfboard in the process, which you'll automatically be entered to win. Just fill out your name and email address below, and don’t forget to vote. Good luck, ladies and gents. @surfer_magazine

Excerpt from Winter chapter of Proximity the Book with @craig__anderson and @rob_machado ---------------------------------------------------
CRAIG: I’ve had some pretty fun waves in my time.
ROB: Do you remember one?
CRAIG: The most fun I’ve had is always on days that are just super novelty, or when you feel a feeling that you haven’t felt before on a certain board, or you’re around good friends. It’s just about the headspace you’re in. Every session there’s always a couple waves that feel real good.
ROB: I think a big part of it is the environment. CRAIG: Yeah, just with your friends. ----------------------------------------------------

TWELVE HOUR SURF CHECKS

ROB:It was cool to get psyched for this trip and make boards and think about the waves we were going to be riding. It's not just another trip. I have a whole new outlook. I come to a place and really take it in way more than I used to.

CRAIG: Yeah. I'd like to relate to that. I kind of can, but the last five or 10 years, I've been frantically traveling around and it's hard to take it all in.

ROB:Yeah, it's cool coming back to a place like this. We know what we're getting into. The potential of waves here is just kind of endless, but there's so many factors. When we had first got here, we had crazy weather and wind and big swell and we couldn't even surf.
CRAIG: Doesn't get easier; surfing. But I feel like that's half the fun. I enjoy surfing, but as much as I enjoy riding a wave, I like just hanging out and sitting in the car park.

A couple pages from the Proximity book shot in the studio of @studioparadisenyc who worked tirelessly in designing and working with a photographer who was in and out of airports and the water during the whole process. A big thank you goes out to them and all of the surfers who believed in both the book and #proximityfilm. The films out on ITunes now and the books still available by clicking on the link in my bio!

Sunrise this morning shot on my phone.

Grom life

Usually I'm not one to post photos of mini waves but I just came in from swimming at sunrise this morning with my phone and was able to make this image not less than 30 minutes ago. It's pretty fun to be able to shoot and share in such a short amount of time every once in awhile. Thanks for letting me borrow your phone housing Zak. Heart shaped lip this morning.

I'd like to take a minute to say a big thank you to everyone who came out last night to @patagoniacardiff and sharing the evening with myself, @rob_machado and @r.barbee. Being able to share the stories from our Proximity project was something we'd always talked about before we picked the cameras up for the first time. Sharing the stage with Rob as we flashed back on countless hours of driving and going through farms in search of perfect lefts brought back some great memories as well as enabled us to raise quite a bit of money for the @robmachadofoundation through some kind donations. A lot of people helped make last night happen first and foremost my wife Jenna who connected the dots with everyone and really made it happen. Troy, Roy and the team at Patagonia along with all of the surfers who trusted @taylorsteele and I when we originally called with the idea of Proximity. We'd also like to thank @surfer_magazine, @ziobaffa, @moonagefoodco , @culturebrewingco and @marea.coffee for supporting the event too. We're so stoked on how it all came out and look forward to doing more shows like this in the near future! If you've got any suggestions on a cool location, please let us know. Thank you again. Oh and a quick thanks to @mikivuckovich for letting us repost your photos :).
