Well, it's been quite a time here in Australia. To come away with two age group world titles (one of those being an overall world title) in two races is pretty unbelievable. I even got to meet and ride with 2nd place finisher in the women's WTS overall standings, USA Triathlon's #1 triathlete, and all-around amazing human, @kzaferes6. After I won my 2nd world championship, she just HAD to get her picture with me 😜
Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages over the last few days. I've been pretty focused preparing for and executing my races so I haven't been able to reach out to everyone who has sent a message. All the support really means a lot to me, though.
Thank you to @lrerios, @younttim, @carynmaconi, and the entire @usatriathlon crew for organizing our trip and making everything as smooth as possible for us. I registered extremely late for the races and literally wouldn't have been here had it not been for some last minute miracles pulled off by the USA Triathlon crew.
Thanks to Coach Barb for getting me ready to put together not one but two great races. Having a coach who I can trust has been immeasurable to my success. I know that what she has planned for me will get me ready to be my best on race day (even if I don't want to do a workout!) Thanks to my @emjtriteam teammates and sponsors for all the motivation you provide. I'm just trying to keep up with you guys!
And thanks to my family and friends for all their support. Especially my mom @lbuck1961, dad @tbucking, and brother @_tbuckingham. I couldn't do it without you guys. I think they are more excited than I was!
Now I'm heading up the coast to Cairns for a great barrier reef excursion and a trip through the rainforest before heading to Sydney and then back to the States. I'm not going to worry about training or much of anything the next few days. Taking some much needed R&R!
