Tinyhoof Horsemanship  Small riding program focusing on establishing positive relationships with horses through leadership and trust. 🐴: Jackson - BLM Mustang β€πŸ’›πŸ’šπŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’Ÿ

I have lots of favorite pictures for the day but this one is first. Jaimie took a spin on Arrow this morning and they did great! Bonus props on the riding dress, I am very into non-traditional riding attire. Also, I'll say it louder for the people in the back if you forgot, horses are for EVERYONE. πŸ’œ

I've been saving this pic of Leon for when I knew I would be busy and not focused on snapping photos. I know, I'm at the barn every day, how could I not take a picture? The Frank Ocean quote: "Work hard in silence, let success be your noise" feels pretty fitting right now. Working hard, no time for pictures. Leon approves. πŸ˜‚

Finished the day doing groundwork with Mandah and Ryker because it was 90Β° and no. Mandah got to face her fears and sit on her horse bareback for the first time in her life today, WOO-FRICKIN-HOO! I am so proud of both of them. I often have a hard time believing this is the same scraggly, shut down horse I met in December. How anyone could dump him at the auction yard with a halter grown into his face is totally beyond me. He is the sweetest, chillest Arabian I have ever met. Ryker deserves this life, so much. You can absolutely tell he is grateful. πŸ’œ

If I had any expectations of Jackson he would meet and then exceed all of them. I only got frustrated once today and screamed his name in his face. He turned to face me in that moment and sigh-grunted at me like he was an 80 year old man who was sick of my shit and then searched me for a treat. When your horse calms YOU down, you know you made the right choice. We ground drive and we get sprayed with fly spray. Tomorrow we will learn about a bath. πŸ˜‚πŸ΄πŸ’œ

@mahalabrogden and Leon cooling out in the pasture! I was at the barn for ten hours today! In the middle of it I thought about being a little girl and dreaming of the very moments I am living right now. I am so lucky and honored to be able to introduce E V E R Y O N E to the awesomeness of horses. This was a dream for me and it was worth alllllll of the hard work it took and will continue to take to be here. I posted about my whole day in my story but this was definitely my favorite part πŸ˜πŸ™Œ (also Ryan and I threw a Pride Pony Party for our friends and community via open barn and pony rides this morning and that was pretty damn fun too!! Happy Pride! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ)

Jackson, Turbo and Arrow are so precious it hurts me. I am so glad he is getting better about being close to other horses. I think all the ponying is helping!

It we! Love this dude so much.

Honest question, was it tacky to put three little girls on one horse for a photo? Ryan was not impressed with me. πŸ˜‚ Here's my favorite of the three of them while they were decorating for their ride. πŸ’œπŸ’—πŸ’œπŸ’—πŸ’œπŸ’—

And I said I'd never do another birthday party. πŸ˜‚

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY GRACIE (in da middle)! πŸ’œπŸ’œ Hope you enjoyed your birthday with this unicorn as much as he did! #arrowisasaint #youtoocanbirthdaywithaunicorn

As it turns out, the grass outside the pasture IS greener. The pasture is in there, dude! πŸ˜‚

My back is still not 100% + I haven't been in the saddle for almost a month because of it. I'm tired of groundwork and Jackson is too, so I've been hanging out with him in his stall and torturing him with wet brushes and braids. I would make a poor horse trainer. I struggle with motivation to start my horse. I feel self-work coming on... I hate being an adult. πŸ˜‚πŸ”« Today I decided it would probably benefit all of us to Try A New Thing. I have ponied horses before but it has been a while. Everyone loved this ponying exercise (that is just Arrow's face, he loved it and was an absolutely spectacular captain. Also they are not tied together in any way, the lead rope is draped over the horn, I'm not reckless I swear). They were both fantastic. It was really nice to be back in the saddle with my two favorite boys πŸ’œπŸ΄

I say this every single day: Horses are for everyone. Metalheads, wallflowers, freaks, geeks, queers, your nexdoor neighbor's grandma, your best friends little brother. Horses are for intellectuals, Chads, princesses, punks, oppositionally defiant nine year olds, Christians, alcoholics, homewreckers, lovers, fighters, winners AND losers. A horse doesn't care who you are, what you look like, if you are neurotypical or how you identify. The simple act of being with a horse in person is both a gift and a privileged activity. Many people never have the opportunity to interact with an equine friend. I want to change that however I can, in whatever capacity I can. Jonny had never met a horse before Saturday and I think he enjoyed his barn time. It is really cool to be able to give people that experience over and over again. If you've been thinking about building a partnership with a horse, summer is here and so am I! πŸ˜‰
