A year ago, i waited 3 hours for voting and anxiously waited the next day for the results. The 2012 election was my first time being eligible to vote but honestly i wasn’t that worried about Obama being re-elected. This past election i made sure i was registered and knew how much was at stake.
I tried to avoid the voting tallies coming back from work but the results were unavoidable in this social media age. I tried to stay off my phone, have dinner, shower, and maybe see better turnaround news. I knew i couldn’t sleep without knowing the election results. Watching the numbers come in was a slow shock. I completely forgot about the electoral college to be honest. It was like watching so much progress and hope burn slowly in flames. I wasn’t distraught, but was weirdly numb from the disbelief.
A year later many of Americans were directly affected for the worse. America still is resisting hateful efforts. The battle wasn’t won though, it had just begun. Our nation has reached multiple sparks. We will continue to combat hate groups, hate speech and hate in general. America will continue to resist, united against beliefs that are purely un-American. Last nights’ local elections sent a bold message to those whom will inevitably receive it. #fuckdonaldtrump #resist #america2017 #notmypresident #stillsanders #imstillwithher #dumptrump #blacklivesmatter #unitedwestand #lockemup
