Alright so before anyone points fingers, this is not the fault of any single person in particular. Yes, the situation sucks and no one enjoys getting injured, but this could have been a lot worse had the bar landed in a different spot. We should have had two additional spotters on either side of the bar and it’s my fault for not making that call. End of story. Maku made sure to take care of the situation as quickly as he possibly could knowing that this wasn’t a simple “I bumped into a barbell” type of injury. Do NOT go and blame him. Let’s just say the IPF overlords got pissed at me for using my deadlift bar the other day 😂

Unfortunately I’m out of the gym until my forearm and leg heal up and quite frankly it sucks not being able to do anything, but there are millions of other people in way worse situations. I’m lucky to be walking away from this with no broken bones, rather just some bad knurling scrapes and bruising.

Clip of 650lb/295kg pull @ 179lbs/81kg. Ultimate goal right now is to pull 675lbs/306kg on a deadlift bar before I turn 25. It definitely will be a difficult task, but considering how my training has been going I think it’s VERY possible.

As my coach @joeyflexx7 said in his most recent video, chasing people is probably the worst thing you can do. Obviously everyone should strive to get better and work to their maximum potential, but your focus and your energy should be focused on YOU. The best thing I’ve done is stopped giving a shit about who lifts what on social media. I show what I can do when it matters the most.

Arguably had a little more in the tank but I had to be smarter than usual with attempt selections yesterday, especially considering I had to make a last minute switch back to mixed grip on deadlifts. Haven’t had much to post as of late because I was #sickboi (I shouldn’t be using this as an excuse), so all I can say is I’m pumped for this Sunday. I’ve been working with @joeyflexx7 for a little over a year now and I can confidently say he’s made me grow as a lifter both in strength and mindset. Nothing but good things have come out of this journey and it’s only the beginning.

🎂QUEST BIRTHDAY CAKE PROTEIN BAR REVIEW🎂
First, don’t ask me how I got this. Quest didn’t send this to me, but the Illuminati has strange ways of working.

I think this is something everyone can agree on: it’s about time Quest decided to release a birthday cake protein bar since literally everyone else already has. Despite this, no one has really nailed the flavor.
.
Nutrition-wise, this bar is very similar to all of Quest’s other bars with the exception of the fat content. Most of their bars contain 7-8g of fat, but this one only has 5g. Carbs and protein are practically the same.

Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch, Quest decided to coat this bar just like they did with their Pumpkin Pie bars last year. I think it would have been better for them to make it like the rest of their bars and throw in some birthday cake bits, similar to what they did with the Blueberry Muffin bar. I’m just thinking they made this a coated bar to give a legitimate “birthday cake” experience (wat).

Now for what everyone really care about: taste and consistency. I’m just going to say flat out that the bar is ok. It’s not the best thing in the world, but it’s not entirely bad either. Like most birthday cake bars, it tastes just like vanilla with some sprinkles thrown in there. Bing Bang Boom done. It’s a little less sweet than the One birthday cake bar, but some people might like that. Consistency was actually pretty good for a coated bar, but that’s all going to depend on how old the bar is. This was a fresh bar, so it was A1 with chewing.

I give this a 6.5/10. It’s definitely one of the better birthday cake bars on the market, but it’s still not the greatest.
