This is one of my favorite things to do for quick shred, it’s so simple and it actually works! These photos were taken earlier this month with no flexing. I usually use the diet when I need a little reset from a week of bad dieting and minimal training. It always kicks me back into gear.
WHAT IS IT?
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting.
It’s not about WHAT foods to eat, but rather WHEN you should eat them. There are a few different methods to intermittent fasting, but what I use is called 16:8.
I fast for 16 hours and eat within a period of 8 hours. You can start at any time throughout the day, but seeing as I almost never ate in the morning anyway I decided to fast from 9pm-1pm.
In the mornings I just drink a lot of water and then at 1pm I have a big meal to break the fast. I usually have 3-4 meals from 1pm-9pm and workout within that time as well.
❗️NO CALORIES during fast period. You can drink water, black coffee, tea, or any other non-caloric drinks.
❗️If you get really hungry chug lots of water or take a sip of coffee, it helps!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
All sorts of processes in the body change when we don't eat for a while, in order to allow our bodies to thrive during a period of famine. When fasted, we get significant reductions in blood sugar and insulin levels, as well as a drastic increase in human growth hormone.
Many people do intermittent fasting in order to lose weight, since it’s a really simple and effective way to restrict calories and burn fat. Others do it for the metabolic health benefits, as it can improve different risk factors and health markers!
You don’t have to jump right into it!
