Christian Thibaudeau  World renowned trainer, coach and athlete.

One my biggest influences is an old-school strength athlete named Doug Hepburn. He’s a Canadian lifter from the 1950s (go Canada) who won a gold medal in Olympic lifting and was lifting big weights on the powerlifts (powerlifting competitions didn’t exist yet). He was the first man to bench press 500lbs and was also squatting and deadlifting 800lbs. Hepburn’s system was simple: at every session you do one more total rep on each exercise. Protein bars, protein ice cream…Unfortunately, all that stuff isn’t good for you. They may be convenient in certain circumstances, but they are not actually a good replacement for actual food. Search for the video on the blog: FRANKENSTEIN PROTEIN (February 23, 2018)

First family outing

Becoming a father made me a lot more structured and a lot less lazy. By 7:00 this morning I had:

Fed baby Jayden twice
Trained
Ate two meals
Walked the dogs
Answered 5 training questions
And I’m giving a seminar in an hour

Coach Babin in action.

People would rather be seduced by a concept than convinced by science and fact. Bulgarian training is a mythical concept in the training area.  The method is focused on high segmentation.  In this capsule, Chris discuss the Bulgarian school of training. I come from what CrossFitters know as « Canada East » or the East region. It’s known to be of one of the best regions in the world, home to many well-known athletes who have had many apperances and great results at the CrossFit Games. So that’s what I did. Here are a few tips I learned from them. Search on the blog: CROSSFIT: LEARNING FROM THE BEST ATHLETES IN CANADA EAST (February 20, 2018)

Are you traps dominant and have a hard time engaging your deltoids? Try this one out! The bands hold the shoulders down, reducing traps action. Also focus on pushing FAR AWAY instead of up.

The problem with warm-ups is we often fail to make good use of them.  In this video Mai-Linh suggest a warm-up sequence where you Mobilize – create space, Activate – create awareness and Integrate – create control. This is the premise behind our upcoming Movement Optimization Course. Search pn the blog: OPTIMIZE YOUR WARM UPS (February 16, 2018)

The acid-base balance is a concept in nutrition that stipulates that we should maintain a more alkaline environment for the body. The premise is that the body’s processes are less efficient in a more acid state. Search on the blog: IS ACID-BASE BALANCE NUTRITIONAL HOGWASH (February 14, 2018)

Christian Thibaudeau has developed a system that I believe is a game changer for sports preparation training. It takes individualization to another level. There are three main profile types in neurotyping : Neurotype 1, Neurotype 2 and Neurotype 3. So how does this impact on training and coaching methods for fast bowler?
