Mary Peery recalls the earthquake in 1964 lasting a day and a half, when it, in actuality, only lasted about 4 minutes. She wasn't sure how bad things were immediately afterwards, but felt a strong sense of community in the city of Anchorage. "When somebody got stuck, we all left our house and went out and pushed the car out," Peery said. "When there was a problem, we all rallied around each other." #1964

Ray Brudie was 8 years old during the 1964 earthquake. Brudie remembers a low frequency noise that he claims he's developed a sensitivity to and can now hear before another quake hits. #1964

Philip Morrow knew exactly what was going on when the earthquake started. Working with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Morrow helped to rebuild Anchorage, Alaska and believes the natural disaster to have been a real economic stimulus. Morrow doesn't think that Anchorage would be as big as it is today if it weren't for that quake. "It was a tiny little city back then," he said. #1964

Some of the first things I ever photographed were of football, but not so much the incredible catches or hard-hitting tackles that were made. I really just enjoyed capturing moments from the day to day practices and reflecting on why I enjoyed the sport so much. I started coaching again this season after a really influential coach of mine passed away. I wanted to return and help guide young players not just through the X's and O's, but through life as well. New project coming soon next season.
