Two expressions from one of my favourite whisky bar, The Mush Tun, have arrived at the bar today. One is a 13 years Port Charlotte (jointly bottled with The Elysian Whisky Bar, Backyard Jr and The Lab Whisky & Cocktails), matured in wine cask, the other is a 28 years old scotch whisky, distilled in an unnamed distillery in Kilbride, on Islay. Back on our shelves! A pair of Caperdonich 1994 21 years old, First Editions “Author Series”. Bottled in April 2016 after maturing in a refill hogshead at 59.6% ABV, with an out-turn of only 90 bottles. It is an expression full of flavours of apple and pear, with hint of citrus fruits lingering within. #thewritingclubsg #caperdonich #firsteditions #whisky

Komagatake bottled for LMDW 60th Anniversary in 2016. It was rather harsh and spicy when first opened, but after 3 months it opens up nicely to reveal nose of ripen bananas and jack fruits. Palate is now full of tropical fruits (pineapple maybe) and the finish is now longer than before with a light hint of oak #thewritingclubsg #marsdistillery #komagatake

Glenfarclas Family Casks, numbered 1993. Distilled 1988, matured in refilled sherry hogshead and bottled 2014 at 56.4%. Flavour exhibits strong influence of Fino sherry, making it an unusual (reads interesting) Glenfarclas #glenfarclas #thewritingclubsg #whisky
