The word pranayama consists of two parts—' prana,' meaning 'breath' (or 'the energy that sustains the body'), and 'ayama,' meaning 'to extend or draw out.' 😤
According to yoga and the Hindu line of thought, the art of pranayama is to control prana in whatever shape it may take in the body.
