Hate, anger, tension, defensiveness, excuses.... These are all reflexive, primitive, and dark. Not just in terms of politics, but in terms of our fitness training, our personal relationships, our eating/drinking, and even our education, let’s honor the process and approach it with the understanding that it’ll take a sense of discipline, of commitment to goodness, of caring enough to try to see the motivating forces at play in the actions of others, and of humility to raise ourselves up and change our world for the better.
You see, strength, true strength, requires both love & patience to build. Without love & patience, we’re little more than predisposing ourselves to our next calamity. Let’s do better than that.

Article in The Guardian (google or type: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2018/oct/08/sleep-how-much-do-we-really-need) talks about the importance of sleep and the types. Specifically REM and SWS (slow wave sleep)... important note about this (pic 2), there are specific patterns of respiration that change when we a) fall asleep and b) enter these specific stages.
Do you think all the research on controlled respiration - whether that be yoga, or meditation - is mimicking these same patterns we use when we sleep? You probably know my theory, but I’ll also bet based on how we handle CO2, and “technically” speaking (nose / mouth) there are some pretty interesting things we may be able to work with for those that have trouble sleeping.

What is being a GOOD SPORT? @jordan.b.peterson "Resilience. You’re not going to score on every shot. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t continue to take them. Part of being able to continue to take shots is to have the strength of character that in that instance you weren’t on top.
What does someone who loses something important with grace do? He ACCEPTS the defeat & thinks what can I improve to decrease the chance of future defeat.
The great athlete is not only exceptionally skilled at what they do but they are always trying to expand their skills at all time. The attempt to expand their skills at all times is important because the trajectory is so important. & the audience wants not only to see a great performance but one pushed into a new domain of risk. If you lose & whine you’ve sacrificed the higher order principle of constant improvement of your own skills. You should be analyzing the skills & see that you were insufficient, Track them & correct them in the future. If I blame it on you or the referees I’m not taking responsibility I’m not pushing myself forword. This takes the meaning out of it.
Being a GOOD SPORT has become a cliche meaning we have forgotten why it’s true. You’re trying to push you’re development farther than ever before. This is the proper moral attitude.
When you see an athletic performance & they are pushing themselves beyond what they are. When you see someone dramatizing the process of adaptation it isn’t the skill itself it’s the extension of the skill. When someone acts like a BAD SPORT they are sacrificing the higher for the lower. Fans don’t like that.
Compare yourself to who you were yesterday not who someone else is today
You need to have a hierarchy of improvement. You need to aim for something. Who should you defeat? You should defeat your former self. You should be constantly trying to do that.
Compete or improve with yourself. Former or lesser self is vengeful, envious, resentful, bitter. etc. Negative moral character. These things interfere with your ability to progress as you move forward through life. Personal responsibility. Compete with yourself. Be better than yourself yes
